Tinsel is not toxic to pets, but it is very dangerous. If your pet ingests tinsel it can cause major problems as it moves into their digestive system, as it does not move properly. It can cause a bunch-up in the stomach and intestines leading to a blockage, which could result in a rupture. It can also get stuck in their teeth and around their tongue.

Some signs & symptoms include:
❗Dehydration
❗Weakness
❗Pawing at their mouth/face
❗Loss of appetite
❗Lethargy
❗Diarrhea
❗Vomiting
❗Pain in abdomen
❗Choking
❗Weight loss

Seek immediate assistance from your vet if you suspect your pet has ingested tinsel.

To be safe avoid using tinsel to decorate for the holiday season if you have pets in your home 🐾⛄🐾

Did you know that the salt that is used to melt the ice on the sidewalks can cause a lot of harm to your dogs paws? The chemicals in many ice melt products can burn your dogs paws. Make sure you are keeping a close eye on their paws if you are walking in places that ice melts are being used.

Sharp pieces of ice can also cut their paws very easily. Another concern is frost bite, especially when their paws get a little wet and we have the cold temperatures.

Ice Melts are also toxic for dogs to ingest. Make sure you keep your ice melt products put away where your dog cannot get into them. If you suspect toxicity make sure you do not wait! Contact a vet immediately for assistance!
