Losing a dog leaves a hole in your heart,
You simply just wait for your life to restart.
The hurt is so deep that you wonder just how,

Tuesday February 6th, 2024

Good Morning,

Due to circumstances beyond my control, please be aware that I must suspend all operations until extensive clean up from this weather event can be completed.

I am currently still snowbound and unable to leave my home or travel to my office. Once I am able to get there, the snow must also be cleared around outside equipment before operations can resume.

Please keep youselves safe and do not attempt to venture out unless absolutely necessary.

I will post updates as the days progress.

Deepest thank you to all the plow operators, power line workers, and first responders who are trying to help our community during this storm. Please show them kindness and patience the coming days as we all navigate this historic snowfall.

Beautiful ❤️

There is a Rainbow Bridge. It is like dog heaven. We run and play and never get fat. The sun is always warm but not hot, the water is fresh and cold, and we get just to be dogs. We all take turns waiting. The bridge is a beautiful wooden structure that crosses from dog land to the other side when our owners come. Time means nothing to us, which is hard for humans to understand..

They saw you watching over them

Like everyone else, our staff have watched with dismay as forest fires have devastated so many people in our province. So we decided to do a little something to help!

Penhorn Animal Hospital is ordering and donating pet beds, food, toys and other necessary items to help pet owners displaced by the fires. These items will be distributed by the SPCA and other organizations.

If you would like to help along with us, we will be accepting new, unopened items for the next several days ( pet beds, food, toys, leashes, litter, blankets etc). These can be dropped off at our hospital - details below.

We will update our progress and further information as it happens 🙂 Thank you!

Today we'll be accepting food and litter donations to help our friends at the SPCA and Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, who are housing and supplying necessary items for pets displaced from wildfires. In light of our provinces tragic and devastating wild fires, please share with anyone you know who has lost, or is missing their pet.

No one should be left alone to deal with the worry and stress of missing pets.

Carnegy Animal Hospital will be offering a free support group to anyone coping with the stress of missing pets that are the result of the recent Nova Scotia fires.

The Monday evening group will be facilitated by the hospital’s veterinary social worker, Kathleen. The group starts June 12th and will take place every Monday evening for six weeks. These sessions are virtual and members of group must be over age of 18.

Good Morning,

We just want to offer some clarification that we are only able to provide cremation services for your pet after they have passed away. We are not able to Euthanize your pet when the time for that difficult decision has arrived.

Putting your pet down can only be performed by a licensed veterinarian as it is a veterinary procedure.
