Meet Poppy, a 1-year-old Border Collie mix. She’s a bit shy and reactive around strangers, but we’re focused on building her trust and confidence. With each session, she’s making strides in her obedience. With time, patience, and plenty of encouragement, I can’t wait to see her grow in both skill and confidence!

Celebrating Chloe and Ace's Journey 🐾
When I first met Chloe and Ace, he was labeled as aggressive and would definitely pull while on the leash. He was very reactive and would lunge at other dogs. Walks were difficult, and as a result, when they did go out to walk, it was mostly in places and at times when nobody was around. Soon afterward, we began training, focusing on building Chloe’s confidence and skills as a handler.
As Chloe's confidence in her own skills as a handler grew, it allowed Ace to gain the confidence he needed to thrive. This newfound confidence has improved Ace's life in countless ways. He's more relaxed and happier in new environments, interacts positively with other dogs without fear.
Ace now has an amazing recall, allowing him to run freely in open fields and enjoy his favorite place: the beach. Not only does he no longer pull, but he’s also very capable of walking off-leash with Chloe.
Chloe's unwavering commitment to Ace and dedication to the process have paid dividends for them as a Team. Their bond is stronger than ever, and Ace's newfound confidence and joy are a testament to their hard work.
I’m very proud of what Chloe and Ace were able to accomplish together, and I’m happy to have witnessed the transformation firsthand!

If your dog suffers from Separation Anxiety try Practicing short separations regularly! Start small and gradually increase the time apart to help your dog adjust. Reward them generously upon your return. This will shift their emotional response from 'I’m afraid I’ll never see you again' to 'I’m excited for your return.' Two very different emotions lead to two very different responses!
Luna used to struggle with separating from me when I first got her…now she’s totally fine with me leaving her behind momentarily🤣

Despite the less-than-ideal weather, we made the most of our rainy adventure!
Walking in the rain might not be everyone’s first choice, but with the right mindset and preparation, it can turn into a memorable experience. Embracing the elements and getting our pack walk in regardless of the weather proved to be a refreshing change of pace. Our dogs loved it, and so did we. So, next time the rain clouds gather, consider heading out with your pets. You might find that a little rain only adds to the adventure.
Ace was on his best behavior. Our spiciest pack member, Taco, had his first taste of off-leash freedom. I think he loved it as much as I loved seeing it ❤️

Obedience isn’t always classroom type stuff!
Once your dog has learned the basics, continue to use those basic commands in as many different environments and situations possible.
Here is a little video clip of how our morning off leash walks go. We practice leave it, No, sit, down, stand & recall. If you add 2-3 minutes of “obedience” with lots of freedom mixed in, it will strengthen the dogs understanding of the commands.

Vince has joined my pack for a while and he & Bussa have become fast friends! I am excited to see their friendship blossom as the training continues. Their affection for each other will undoubtedly be a positive influence as well as a great distraction, making their future training sessions even more successful! For now Luna is tolerating their games from a distance but I’m sure she’ll warm up soon🤣

Training can happen anywhere….even in the lazy boy chair! Bussa and I have been doing this since he was a puppy. He’s normally not vocal but his frustration with having to perform to get his toy back causes him to whine & leak a little😊 I find it amusing and as long as he does what I tell him to do then he can “say what he feels he needs to say”. My point is, training doesn’t have to be outside or something that we feel is complicated or time consuming. I practice the sit, down, stand, spin, back up, out, bring it & bed commands without even getting out of my chair. So if you’re one of those people who say that you just can’t find the time to train your dog…….🐂💩
