See post below for pics and info (Facebook won't allow us to upload pics and video on the same post) - a baby gosling on the farm bumped it's head pretty good, so we took it to see our friend Dr Steven Nicholson of Island Veterinary hospital. Erin wanted to make her very own, first ever social media video to let you all know what's up! I think I'll make it official, Erin is head of PR for the farm ๐
Today we had the pleasure of rescuing this little orphaned cutie on the farm ๐ฅน๐ฆ
He is off to Hope For Wildlife, the wonderful and very essential wildlife rescue charity of our province, please be sure to show them your support as often and in any way that you can ๐ซถ๐ผโ๐ผ

It has been a busy week on the farm. Our sheep got sheared and our horses enjoyed some osteopathy treatments!
Shearing is essential to sheep health. They may be a little scared during the process, but it is only for a few minutes start to finish and our shearer, Peter Kozier, is an absolute pro at handling them and keeping them as relaxed as possible. He shears thousands of sheep throughout the Maritimes every spring and fall! Without shearing, their wool would continue to grow, causing mobility issues and overheating. Our sheep are a hair/wool cross, so we aren't sure if their fiber will be able to be spun into yarn, but if not it will still provide plenty of benefit around the garden!
And we loved our visit with Jessica Warrener and Jessica Stackhouse of Arbour Square Osteopathy/Armstrong Veterinary Osteopathy (located in Hammonds Plains)! Osteopathy is a type of gentle but affective manual therapy that we find greatly benefits their comfort. It is very important to keep the horses backs and bodies feeling great, so they can be happy and safe when they pack around all our lesson and pony ride kids. Today, they treated 8 horses, 6 humans, and our dog!
We will have the petting zoo open this Saturday so everyone can come check out the sheep's new hairdos!
We are one step closer to being able to reopen for the 2023 season ๐ฅณ
Our goats ๐ and sheep ๐ are thrilled to be back in their outdoor pens after a long winter. We did a good deep cleaning in their paddocks ๐ฉ and repaired their hay feeders. We were able to redo their fence rails as well with new stronger lumber at an excellent price from River Ryan Lumber Ltd๐ฒ, and also got some new gravel from Alder Point Trucking and Excavating ๐ which we used in their muddy areas and in the sheep shelter to raise their floor. We absolutely love doing repeat business with both of these local companies!
Next we will be working on our miniature horse pen ๐ด
Sheep Shearing Day
Yesterday was shearing day! Our sheep and alpacas have new summer hairdos โ๏ธ
Bubba is getting sheared here while Pongo keeps him company. The animals are not sedated, as the highly experienced handler can keep them perfectly calm and the shearing takes just minutes. Without shearing, their wool would continue to grow until they couldn't move ๐๐ฆ
They all look so different now! It must feel so good shedding all that fiber and feeling the summer breeze again ๐
ITS A GIRL!!!
ITS A GIRL!!!
Too cold and rainy for petting zoo to open tonight ๐ฅถ
We will open again tomorrow and Friday from 4-6, then have our big Halloween event on Saturday from 12-4, which will finish us off for the season!
In the meantime, here are some cute piggy nomnoms ๐๐ท
