Retirement Announcement
Ruth Parker, DVM
It is with great respect and admiration that we announce the upcoming retirement of Dr. Ruth Parker on March 31st, 2023.
Graduating in 1990 with honors Dr. Parker moved to Cape Breton shortly after to begin practice. Dr. Parker has devoted her life to the health of animals and to aid in enhancing the bond between owners and their pets. During her 33 years in professional practice, Dr. Parker built the new Sydney Animal Hospital, which was designed from the ground up exclusively as a veterinary facility. In the following years, she continued to bring the latest innovations to the area. Including Digital x-rays, laser scalpel and laser physiotherapy systems, along with dental radiographs and the Fixin orthopedic plating system. She strived to learn new procedures and treatments to serve her patients. Dr. Parker also built and brought onsite pet cremation to the CBRM.
Dr. Parker’s dedication to the field has been exemplary. The support and trust from her clients have been one of her most valuable gifts. Watching over her clients as they brought their new pet to her for their first visit, through all the challenges life had in store to providing a compassionate ear and hand as the time came to say goodbye. In the past 33 years, Dr. Parker’s work ethic, compassion and determination have made an undeniable difference, Sydney Animal hospital is her legacy.
Now is the time for her to enjoy this exciting new chapter of her life, embark on new travels and adventures. Dr. Parker will also be tending her gardens, another passion of hers and spending quality time with her family and of course her beloved pets, both large and small.
Thank you, Ruth, for all you have contributed to the Veterinarian field and for all you have done for our community. Thank you for taking great care of all our pets and the opportunities you gave to so many of us. Through these opportunities, we were given the chance grow. We will miss your quirky antics, your compassion for our animals and to us. Also your extreme willingness to just “get it done”. We are eternally grateful! Congratulations on your retirement—it won’t be the same here without you!
