Hi folks
As some of you may know there was an accident in Tamworth last night just north of the clinic. Access to the road is being limited due to the investigation and it’s an unknown at this point what time it may be concluded. Until the road is reopened we are asking only folks MUST come to the clinic to phone ahead and double check. We will need your car make, model and license plate number to make accessing the clinic easier for you. If you have already got an appointment we will be reaching out to you soon. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

Hi All... Just wanting to do another COVD 19 update as things are loosened up in our province.

We are still only allowed to do curb side services. No clients are allowed into the building and all payment needs to be prepaid or paid at time of service by either credit card over the phone or by etransfer to [email protected]

Curbside services for physical exams means that all dogs must be on leash when they get out of the car and we will put a slip lead or noose leash on them and unhook your leash for you to keep and when they return to you we will do the reverse. For cats it means that they must arrive at the clinic in an enclosed kennel that is secure and that you feel safe putting on the driveway and walking away from so that we may pick it up and bring your cat into the clinic. We will then bring them back to you in the kennel and set them down, and step back for you to pick up and put into your car.

For some pets with certain conditions we are able to do telemedicine consults until we are told we are no longer allowed to do them. If this is applicable will vary from case to case. It means that we have a conversation over the phone about your pet's condition and if possible we manage the case that way with medications dispensed and a physical exam later if needed either because the issue does not resolve or after a phone conversation it is apparent that the pet needs to be seen in person.

Because of the increased movement of people in our area and after discussions with the local doctors and public health regarding cases and our community immunity here in our area the consensus is that we are essentially a naive population and we still need to take all precautions to try and continue to slow the virus spread down.

As such we will be requiring ALL people who come to the clinic to wear a face covering of at the very least cotton fabric of the type pillow cases are made from. Bandanas are fine, fabric masks are also fine. All clients MUST stay in their cars - no exceptions even with the hot weather - in order to maintain social distancing requirements that are still in place and are mandated by the College that governs Dr Forester's ability to continue to practice. If Dr Forester becomes ill the clinic will need to be closed as we are a single veterinarian practice so we are asking for your help in keeping our staff healthy as well as yourself and other clients.

We will be wearing face masks to protect you from us also.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for your cooperation with us in this trying and difficult time.

If you have any questions please call the clinic and if necessary leave a message. We will get back to you the same day if it is urgent and by end of next day if it is not. We ask that if you are wanting medications to continue to call ahead so that we can continue car side delivery for you.

Please do not message over FB as it is very difficult to access these messages unless we are physically at the clinic and the messenger system is not monitored as the phones are. It could be days before we are able to respond to you through FB messenger. It is kept active only for use int he case of a phone issue through BELL in town or at our location. In those cases we post and monitor it continuously.

Hoping that everyone continues to stay safe and healthy. We have all done a great job of keeping ourselves and each other safe so far.

Thanks again so much,

Dr Forester and Staff.

Here is a better photo of the male neutered cat found on River Road and Mountsin Road in Tamworth last night around 4pm. He was found after being hit by a car and brought in by a good samaratin. If anyone knows who he may be or may belong to please contact us. He is recovering well and is stable now. Please like and share this post if you can. It seems like he is flying under the radar but looks like he’s well cared for so hopefully he’s just not been missed yet and someone recognises him.

Hi again. I wanted to update everyone on what is going on at the clinic during the COVID 19 emergency. We are short staffed because of the crisis causing staff to be off to look after children due to the school closures. Please be patient if we don’t answer the phone immediately as this is not always possible. We check the messages frequently and do call back. Also if we are dealing with an emergency we are not able to answer the phone. For everyone’s safety no clients are allowed into the clinic u set any circumstances. When you come for an appointment please wait in your vehicle and someone will come out to you. You can also try calling to let us know you are here if we don’t come out quickly. For payments we are no longer accepting debit cards in order to prevent clients from having to touch the machine and to come inside. We are accepting credit cards over the phone or e- transfers and if needed we are still accepting cash that is placed in a plastic bag. If you don’t have the exact change let us know ahead of time when you speak to us on the phone and we will do our best to have your change pre-done. If you need medication refills please call the clinic and we can get those ready for you and take payment over the phone and then we will deliver it to your car when you arrive. Just pull up outside the front door. Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support and patience at this difficult time.

Just an update given the ongoing COVID 19 emergency. We have placed a STOP! Do not enter sign on our door. We will watch the parking lot and come and get you when it is safe for you to enter the clinic. We ask that you would please respect this policy. It is in place to protect clients and staff. Dr Forester has suffered pneumonia 5 times since she was a teenager and as such is at risk for developing serious complications if infected with COVID 19.
We have had some instances of not respecting this policy. Please think of yourself, other clients and our staff if you see this sign. We are all looking forward to a time when these measures can be relaxed but as the virus draws closer on our community we all need to be vigilant in order to keep all of us safe and avoid the horrific crisis that those in Italy are falling victim to as we speak.

03/17/2020

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are still open during the covid 19 events but that we are needing to prioritise sick patients and urgent cases over routine vaccines. Please be patient if we ask you to rebook your routine appointment until a later date if one of these triage situations conflicts with your appointment.

We will not be offering nail trims until the situation improves in the interest of limiting people visiting the clinic unless there are special circumstances. So please call the clinic.

We are taking precautions to keep ourselves and our clients safe. We’d ask that if you feel unwell to give us a call and we can rebook your appointment to a later date. If you have travelled we will need to rebook your appointment as well. If you have travelled or are unwell and your pet is sick we would ask that you send your pet with someone else and that they remain in their car until asked to come in the clinic.

We are limiting the number of clients in the clinic at one time to two and ask that only one person in a family attend inside the clinic with a pet. When you arrive please look through the door and if you see another client please return to your car and call the clinic to let us know that you’ve arrived. Please be patient if we do not answer immediately. We will be checking the parking lot frequently and we are aware of who to expect and when you will be expected for your appointment. Our goal is to have one pet in each exam room and no one in the waiting room in order to preserve social distance spaces. We don’t want someone to become accidentally exposed in the case that a client comes to the clinic that is unaware they are carrying the virus. We will not be allowing anyone to wait in the waiting room for their appointment.

We ask that you call ahead for any medications you need and we can have them ready for you so you can be in and out as quickly as possible. We will offer car side delivery of medications if they are prepaid over the phone. Just call to let us know you are coming and call again when you have arrived.

We are still accepting cash payments but ask that you consider using tap if your bill is under $100 so that everyone can avoid too much touching of the debit machine which is being cleaned after each use.

Please do not drop in to book an appointment but rather call instead.

We have been informed by our supply company that people are bulk buying pet food which has tripled their shipping demand and the trucks cannot carry medications and all of that food. Because of that they will prioritise shipping medications rather than food so at this time we are only able to order one bag of food per pet at a time because of this measure being taken.

We have increased our level of cleaning to what would occur when a dog or cat comes in with parvo and are using a virucidal (virus killing) spray. Our procedure is that after each client leaves the inside and outside of the front door is cleaned as well as the front counter and debit machine. The k***s on both front and back exam room doors inside and out are cleaned as are the chairs and exam table and a freshly laundered towel is used for each appointment whether or not a pet has actually stood on the table. The floor is then washed with the same virucidal solution and a mop. If anyone sits in the waiting room those chairs are also cleaned. Dr Forester’s stethoscope is cleaned after each examination and our hands are either washed or sanitised after each client interaction. We also currently still have a single bottle of hand sanitiser for use by clients on the front counter.

Appointments will be kept as short as possible to keep social distancing and the 15 minute exposure guideline in mind but in some cases the appointment may be longer if needed. If there are extra questions but you prefer to leave please write them down and call the clinic and Dr Forester will return your call as soon as possible to answer them.

Our goal with theses measures is to keep our clients and ourselves healthy and coronavirus free. Thank you so much in advance for your understanding and I want to let everyone know how grateful we at Tamworth Veterinary Services are for each and every one of our patients and clients and value the trust you place in us. If needed in an emergency we have made arrangements with colleagues to offer emergency care if the situation arises that Dr Forester cannot see your pet and we will be doing the same for the clinics that have offered their help to us.

Please stay safe and we are looking forward to when life returns to normal. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the clinic.

Thank you all for your patience yesterday when we weren't able to access the messages on our phone system. Bell has fixed the issue so feel free to leave messages again.

01/10/2020

We are open 9-6 today. We are currently having connection problems regarding checking our telephone messages through Bell, you may call the clinic but at this time we are unable to check our messages or change our evening message to our day time message, if you call and we do not pick up please call again. Thank you for your patience.

01/07/2020

Just some information for everyone regarding FB messaging to the clinic. We do not use it except in a situation where the clinic has phone issues - Bell has problems at our end sometimes and that is why messaging has not been shut off. The notification system through FB is so bad that we frequently see there is a message only 2-3 days after it has been left and then are usually unable to even see the message for longer than that sometimes. It makes it completely unreliable as a source of communication for us in most situations. It cannot be used under any circumstances if you have an emergency. For legal reasons cannot give any info, prescription refills, advice or prices via messenger. If you have any questions please call the clinic at 613-379-5900 and we can help you out.

10/17/2019

We would like to apologize, our phone lines are giving us trouble and Bell is working on getting us back on track. We are unable to change our evening message but we are open today until 6 pm and if you call and cannot get thru please try again. Sorry for any inconvenience.
