Everyone please be informed, as I'm sure a lot of you are, of this deadly virus in Windsor and now Belle River. No doubt it is probably in more places than we know. When bringing your pup for grooming please bring them leashed and remain on the driveway and sidewalk. Please do not allow your pups to go to the bathroom in my or my neighbours yards and gardens at any time. We need to keep these areas as clean as possible for everyone to prevent the spread of any virus. Dogs can catch viruses just by walking and sniffing where a sick dog was. Think of the remnants of urine and f***s for many viruses. Please have your pup go to the bathroom at home before coming for his/her groom. Thank your for helping us stay safe and clean.
UPDATE* After over night medical attention at the veterinarian the pup has significantly improved, and is now home and on his way to a full recovery 🙏❤️
We are sad to inform you that the Canine Parvovirus outbreak seen recently with cases in Windsor has reached Belle River. We have received news that a dog who has visited our facility has tested positive for Parvovirus and therefore we will be following strict protocols.
After speaking with our trusted veterinarian, we have been advised of a few details you should note.
Unfortunately, the virus can survive on surfaces for months indoors and outdoors. It can be carried on shoes and be in all common areas, including walking paths, dog facilities, dog parks etc. Basically anywhere other dogs frequent.
Therefore as we have had a confirmed case, any dog that has entered our facility is at risk. We have attempted to inform all customers who have visited us this week, informed our local veterinarians and local daycares as well. Our shop has closed down for the day and is being THOUROUGHLY disinfected top to bottom. Veterinarians are continuing to say there should be little to no concern if your dog is vaccinated and healthy. Puppies, elderly, immune compromised, and unvaccinated dogs are at hightened risk and should be monitored for symptoms. Symptoms can present as, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, dehydration, abdominal pain, and low body temp. Although Vaccinated dogs have a reduced risk of contracting and spreading diseases like parvo or distemper, transmission is still possible.
We are doing our absolute best to keep all of you informed and being strict to follow every protocol. Once our shop is disinfected we will reopen and resume business but monitoring your pets and keeping them safe is a group effort. Please do your part. If you have concerns or want to take extra precautions please speak with your veterinarian. Our number one priority is keeping all of our dogs safe so we have tried to provide you with as much information as we can. Please understand we are in communication with hundreds of customers so we may not be able to respond promptly. We are overwhelmed with the day and are hoping everyone can understand ❤️
