📢Hello dear friends,📢
Recently we have noticed many instances of fraudulent pages that copy our photos, posts, and replies, trying to scam people.
In order not to fall victim to these people, here are the steps we recommend taking:
1. Check their page, website, etc. If it is a legitimate business – there will be a phone number, address, history of reviews, posts, endorsements, etc. Check their address on Google Maps (we have ours labeled as a business). Also, we have “verified” our page on Facebook and Instagram, adding a blue checkmark, proving that we are a real business.
2. Check their registration status. We take pride in our partnership with CCA-AFC, and we are listed on CCA-AFC website as a breeder. The cattery should always be able to provide their valid CCA-AFC ( or TICA) registration cards and numbers.
3. Ask for a videochat to see the kittens and their siblings – while it is easy to steal pictures, a live videochat with animals remains a solid proof of legitimacy.
4. Ask for a video chat to see the parents. While the father is sometimes in a different location, mothers are always with their kittens.
5. Use common sense. If their messages are asking for an urgent payment, or if the deposit is more than 25% of the kitten’s price – this should ring alarm bells. Beautiful, pure breed British and Scottish kittens cannot be cheap, simply due to the costs of high-quality food/litter/vet visits/registrations/selective breeding program, and so on. Unfortunately, this is not a very profitable business due to inherent risks and a lot of work involved.
Please stay vigilant, if it’s too good to be true – it probably is.
