πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆβ€β¬›Georgie and Sprout aren't just active, playful, mischievous little hellions that get into everything.

They're typical young kittens and also have quiet time.

Georgie's favorite spot is the top of the fridge, right by the door. From there, he can survey everything and it's a safe place.

Sprout is usually not far away in the big ceramic bowl, having a snooze. Although, he also likes to find himself a spot in the sun for his naps. πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆβ€β¬›

Little Waffles truly is the sweetest little boy. He's been with us for quite some time and is still extremely unsure of himself. This is an ongoing challenge with cats that are not properly socialized from a young age. He has grown very attached to Blue, one of our resident cats who has taken him under his wing, so to speak. But we are hopeful that with more love and cuddles, Waffles confidence will build and he will finally turn the corner and become the confident boy we know he can be. β™₯️

Please, there must be someone out there who can give this poor cat a good home for his remaining years. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!

Thank you to everyone who shared this post far and wide! You have found Sylvester a home! If you have adopted him, thank you so much, take great care of him and we'd love to hear from you!!

-----------------

THEY DESERVE BETTER

I don't have any senior cats available for adoption right now, so I'm going to advocate for a couple of senior cats that deserve to have a good home for the last few years they'll be alive.

That means if they get hyperthyroidism or diabetes, they need to be treated. If they have declining kidneys, they need to be monitored and treated (if possible), if they have arthritis, they need treatment. That means you must have a good income. Don't adopt this cat if you can't afford the care. It won't be a matter of a vet visit every three years.

This also means you don't toss them outside when the going gets tough. Look at Sylvester. Sixteen years old. Look at what he used to look like before someone didn't give a s**t somewhere along the way (click on link for all the info). From the photos available, we can see he has been through WHS three times in his life. Utterly tragic. This time around, he's been there a month so far. What must his life have been like to become so worn? His ears speak of winters by himself, outside, without proper shelter. THIS cat deserves the best home for the last two to four years of his life. Go get him. Keep him indoors. Give him the love he should have had all these years. And if you adopt him, let us know!

Sweet Emma is the complete package: beautiful, sweet, a little shy, and affectionate, and she can't wait to share her love with you. The unfortunate loss of her owner brought her to the animal shelter. She is 6 years old, enjoys giving kisses, and being the centre of attention. She can be shy when meeting new people, so it will likely take her a few days to adjust to a new setting. Emma doesn't mind the company of other cats, but if she had her way, we're sure she'd love to have you all to herself. If your home is peaceful and you have time to devote to a charming little girl while offering a loving and comfortable lifestyle, Emma is ideal for you!

For further information or to meet sweet Emma, please contact us at 204-642-2521.

Toy tunnels can be a great source of entertainment for kittens and cats alike, unless your name is Sprout, then it's just one of many places to have a nap 😻😁.

Now, if your name is Georgie, you prefer the big ceramic bowl on top of the fridge...which led to a major search for him the first time he napped in there πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜….

Georgie and Sprout are still looking for their forever home together.

Big round of applause for Piper! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Children love animals and that is precisely why Piper, a five-year-old, wanted to help the shelter. At the age of five, she already has a deep love for all furry friends. Piper sold rice krispy treats during her grandmother Gwen’s yard sale to help raise awareness and funds for the shelter! She was quite excited about it and drew a beautiful picture with various animals on it. Way to go, Piper! We are extremely grateful; you are an amazing little girl! 😊🐾

If you find a cat or kitten be sure to always check for a tattoo in their right ear, and have them scanned by your local shelter or Veterinarian to see if they have a microchip.

Let us put an end to unnecessary litters that result in so many unwanted and neglected animals. Please spay or neuter your pets to end this preventable, careless suffering.

FOSTER FOUND FOR BENI!

Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in caring for Beni while we assess him for adoption and thank you to the three people who submitted a foster application.

I have selected a foster based on his current medical needs. Since before coming in to care, Beni was very itchy, and I thought it was from a flea infestation. He was treated with Revolution and his itching seemed to abate. But when I spent more time with him, I noticed the itching was still there.

There were no signs of fleas at all and his skin was a nice normal color and texture, so I thought he may have a food allergy. Back to the vet we went and they agreed a novel protein diet for a month would be beneficial to find out if this is an allergy. Also, Beni had an episode of very laboured breathing while he was doing something where he was purring a lot. I hadn’t seen anything like this before and neither had the vet. We did an x-ray, which, thankfully, looked fine. He will be on special food, in a quiet and calm home with someone who will be monitoring his breathing and itching.

I was very fortunate to get a variety of home situations including one that meets his immediate needs.

He’s happy, eating, looking outside his window from his cat tree and has some nice, quiet company. I will keep everyone posted on his progress.

He should have been named Raymond, because everyone loves him.

If you would like to help with Beni’s care, his special food is $4/can and he eats 1.5 of those a day. His vet bills total almost $500.

E-transfers can be sent to [email protected] with the heading β€œFor Beni” as we are also receiving donations for Tami’s three kids in care. I like to keep funds separate for each situation so people know their money is going to care for the cat they’d like to support.

Hellooo?! Anybody there? Oh, hi, there you are.
I'm Sprout. My brother Georgie is here too.

You see, we're looking for our new, furever home.
Would that be your place?
I promise we'll be good kitties...well, most of the time anyway.

We're still small and we do get into stuff we're not supposed too, like stealing the dishcloth, or socks, or water. We ❀️ water, sinks, bathtubs, water dishes.

We do play with our toys too, and we know what a scratchpost is.
Our foster mom says she's so proud of us to learn so fast, and she loves it when we come for cuddles to thank her πŸ’–.

Georgie and I are very energetic and love to zoom around the house.
Georgie likes the dogs. They're okay, I guess, but I prefer all my cat friends and people.

Well, I've got to be off. Think about it, maybe you would like us to come live with you.
That would be great.
Bye now.

The scratching post is one of the most useful inventions for cat owners ever! It makes our cats happyβ€”and our furnishings even happier. Cats instinctively crave the sensation of burying their nails into the surfaces they come across; this behaviour aids cats in marking their territory. Physically, it allows them to stretch and play. The best cat scratching posts don’t just preserve your home; they offer an essential solution for maintaining your cat’s claws and enriching their environment. 😻🐾🐾

Sharky loves to visit the staff at Gimli Veterinary Services. I mean, if you're going to have a checkup, you might as well get one that involves a belly rub, fish oil, and lots of snuggles, right? LOL

The Dynamic Duo,
Sprout and Georgie, are brothers, but more so, they are also best friends.

They've had a rough start to their life, along with their siblings and their mom.
They were malnourished and sick when they arrived, without barely any energy to even nurse.

But despite all, they've made a wonderful recovery and have grown into two beautiful boys.

Georgie and Sprout are full of energy now. They are playful, curious, mischievous, and they are always good for a laugh.

They are also very affectionate and come for cuddles, purring all the way.

Sprout and Georgie are used to living with other cats and dogs, and they know how to share their food and toys.

When they're tired, you can usually find them cuddled up with whomever is also having a nap.

Since we're certain that they wouldn't do well living as singles, we're hoping to find a forever home for them together.

For further information, or if you want to meet Georgie and Sprout, please, private message Manuela at Interlake Cat's Cottage Boarding, or call 204-383-0060.
Alternatively, you can also contact the Gimli Humane Society at 204-642-2521
