Dear Friends and Community,

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the closing of In The Hills Equine. Over the past four and a half years, we have been incredibly grateful to be part of this wonderful community. The opportunity to bring the joy of horses and farming to so many—both young and old—has been a true gift.

Each morning at camp, I would remind our counselors that the moments we create become cherished memories for the kids. Today, I find myself holding onto the countless memories made here—moments of excitement, laughter, and connection. Whether through camp, lessons, or our programs, the smiles, enthusiasm, and shared experiences will always remain close to my heart.

To all of our students, campers, families, and supporters—thank you. Your kindness, encouragement, and love for this farm have meant the world to us. We feel so fortunate to have been the caretakers of this special place, where so many magical moments unfolded.

As we close this chapter, we are unsure of what comes next, but we look forward to spending more time together as a family. While our journey with In The Hills Equine is coming to an end, our love for horses and the memories we’ve made here will always remain.

In Kindness & Carrots,

Krystin

Our farm lost one of the most beautiful souls on Friday. My first purchased school horse was a 17 year old, quarter horse cross named Betty, that I bought off of Kijiji. She was longer than she was tall, not much to look at but had soft and wise eyes that seemed to be the gateway to her soul. She was the definition of bombproof. She was our liberty queen, made funny squealing noises and roamed our farm like a dog, grazing and enjoying life beyond the fences. We called her the resident dog, and I believe she felt the love from each and every one of her students and friends. Moonie as I called her was a true mare, would give her absolute best each and every time, her heart was big, she loved to be touched, groomed and longed for her neck scratches. She was a champion pole bender and was so incredible at teaching feel: You thought the word walk or trot and she knew what to do, same with left and right. She was patient (my goodness was she patient), she carried thousands of students on her back over the years, taught countless lessons (both in the tack and out), camps and programs. Moon has struggled with arthritis since I first owned her, and we always gave her soft easy jobs, to keep her moving and fit but not to hurt herself. She got to the point where she was uncomfortable and experiencing pain in her retirement, even just living out in the field. We had to make the right decision for her, and to let her go with peace and dignity, and before her condition turned into an emergency situation. We will forever be grateful for her love and lessons. Run free my sweet girl, may there be no fences where you are now, and thank you… I can only hope that I helped you half as much as you helped me. 💕 🌕
