If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Michelle you’d definitely be able to point out the fact that she’d relate herself more closely to a cat on any given day BUT if she had to choose she’d relate most closely to a 🐾 Saint Bernard 🐾

Every clinic needs a big goofy softie, and she is ours!

Out-going & friendliness: Michelle is always one to welcome any pet into the clinic with open arms and a smile on her face. Being able to care for animals has always been a passion of hers. She always strives to make sure pets and their owners (because we know being a pet parent is not always an easy task) always have a welcoming, safe, and positive experience here at our clinic.

Tolerant, patient: She is always one to make sure each and every pets needs are getting met, whether it be stopping in between vaccines for a cookie break, or some snuggles, she makes sure our furry friends feel comfortable during each step of the way

Protective, determined : Michelle is always one to advocate for top-notch patient care. She treats all of her patients as her own, ensuring every animal receives adequate and individualized care. She always strives to do her best and puts forth all her effort and energy into helping our patients.

Michelle’s love for animals doesn’t stop at the clinic. As soon as she gets home, the scrubs may come off, but the caregiving doesn’t. With a full house at home, from furry friends (and not so furry), and scary and gill breathing animals, she is always keeping busy.

💥Our next RVT needs no introduction, after nearly two decades in small animal practice many clients will recognize Jessica by her friendly voice whether on the phone or welcoming you into our wonderful animal hospital.

Energetic, watchful, determined, and alert are words that describe the Doberman Pinscher. Much like the dobermans that she loves so much, Jessica strives to embody those same qualities both in her work as well as her day to day life.

Determined to make a difference in the lives of our furry friends, Jessica has vowed to never stop learning. She has taken many different classes/courses in addition to being a Registered Veterinary Technician, to help advance the treatment and care of her patients. Classes such as animal care and husbandry, multiple nutrition courses, gentle handling and restraint techniques, behaviour modification and training, critical care and emergencies, advanced anesthesia, and is a certified Fear Free level 2 technician. Jessica volunteers her time both in the purebred dog community and is a member of several breed and all breed clubs, as well as helping out with all breed cat and dog rescues. Jessica has personally rescued and fostered/adopted out upwards of 150 pets in her time as a technician and loves getting updates on all of the special pets that have found new homes through her.

Jessica’s watchful eyes keep close tabs on your beloved pets to ensure that they have the best possible veterinary experience whether they’re at the hospital for an appointment or for a hospitalization because they're not feeling well. She is quick to offer a nervous patient a delicious treat to calm them, or an unsure puppy a toy to get them onto the scale without fear. Her calm and steady voice helps soothe a frightened patient before and after surgery, and to give updates to anxious owners.

I'm tired just reading this, but Jessica isn't, because her incredible energy knows no bounds.

When she’s not giving 150% to her work here at the Tilbury Veterinary Hospital she likes to spend time with her own pets, her two Champion Doberman Pinschers and her 14 year old cocker spaniel, her diabetic cat, her skinny pig and her rabbit. She trains her dogs in conformation, agility, rally-o, scent detection, tracking and sprinter. Having a diabetic cat herself, really allows Jessica to be alert to what clients may be going through with their own diabetic pets and she's always happy to answer any questions you may have.

As this RVT month comes to a close let's celebrate Jessica. Her determined, watchful, alert and energetic spirit modeled after the Doberman Pinscher are an inspiration to animal lovers everywhere and she helps make this world a better place for all of our pets.

Today, on Pet Obesity Awareness Day, we’re highlighting Stewie, our beloved clinic cat. Stewie has been on a weight loss journey to improve her health and wellbeing.

When Friday comes around! Have a great weekend, everyone 💕 🐾

Can you lend an EAR, because what I’m about to tell you, MITE shock you !! There are several types of EAR mites that can live in cats' , but the most common are Otodectes Cynotis,tiny,eight legged parasites that feed on the waxs and oils in the ear canal of cats and dogs. These mites are barely detected by the naked eye and need to be seen under a microscope. These little mites cause irritation and inflammation and can affect the internal and external ear canal and can lead to more serious skin and ear infections. WHAT CAUSES EAR MITES ? Ear mites are highly contagious, and animals become infested by direct contact with other infested animals. Did you know EAR mites are responsible for more than 50% of all feline ear infections. WHAT ARE THE GENERAL SYMPTOMS? 🌟 Excessive scratching and rubbing of ears 🌟 head shaking and fur loss around the ears 🌟 Coffee ground like debris in ear canals. 🌟 scratches or scabs near the ear. HOW TO TEST FOR EAR MITES? 🔬 We take a small sample of the coffee like debris and place a drop of mineral oil onto the slide and place under the microscope. ( Check out our video) Do you see those mites a swimming ? Those are EAR mites !! HOW TO TREAT EAR MITES ? Ear mites can be easily treated by either Revolution Plus or Nexgard Combo ( just a few products our office carries). If the ears are infected or have a build-up of debris, a gentle cleaning may be required. At times, an antibiotic may also be required if there is an underlying infection.
