After a few introductions between Borris and Monroe, we finally let them out to play together, Borris was so good and quite submissive to Monroe. After play they just chilled in the garage for a bit together. They have definitely became buddies!

Talking about dog behavior! Dogs will do and treat you how you allow them. Now, yes there is always an exception to every rule, some dogs are just great BUT most need help and guidance. Borris is the dog type that will take advantage if he can, most dogs will, but some are more reactive than others and some are aggressive. Note* dog reactivity and dog aggression are 2 different things and problems, one is just a behavior the other one is a liability!

Fails... dogs humble me real fast!
Boris was nailing his recalls into a perfect heel, so it was time to video. A couple things can humble you real fast and that's children and dogs lol. You have to know when you've pushed training too far for the day or before you get frustrated, you need to call it quits for training at that time. These dogs save me and are my sweet heroes ❤️

Boris has been improving so much on "place" and "heel". These milestones are so important .And we also do a relaxation and trust exercise while he's on place, it's a great exercise for dogs who have lots of energy to learn to calm. He was still getting plenty of treats here, they will be getting weaned out.

Boris enjoying life on a Sunday evening, he knows how to just chill and relax. Never once tried to get the food and even on a busy street he can enjoy just being a dog in the moment. Who couldn't want a buddy like Boris ❤️

Boris has been learning his "downs" and "place". This is from when we first started he has come quite a way since this. Most of the videos we post are progress videos, but with Boris we decided to show where it all starts. With dogs who have not been trained to down or place this is where it begins, with repetition it gets to the perfection of dogs remaining on place and down on first command. It isn't magic and the dogs don't just suddenly know what they are supposed to do , it takes work and it takes time.

*Important info* Only positive based training will not work for a dog like this!
Rules and limitations are applied and practiced with Boris , it is essential in his success. He must learn boundaries and respect for the person that is handling him. As you can see he does attempt to do his own thing and I do correct him, he does not like being stopped from doing what he wants to do so he pulls and bites at the leash for a second. Boris doing his own thing and making decisions for himself has gotten him into negative situations/events in the past and my job is to put him on the right path one step at a time.

Thor and his house sister Nina walking out together ❤️ they had to first figure out who was going to be on the outside and inside lol. Nina is a past client who did so well in her program and is just the best dog, mom and dad have no complaints. I took her for a second and Nina remembered everything. Now little bro ( Thor) is to follow in her footsteps. So happy to see my past dogs, love them all ❤️. Thor you have a bright future ahead of you buddy!

First steps in the training process with Boris or any dog for that matter is to introduce engagement work and conditioning. Boris has shown great engagement, he will look right into my eyes which means he is being in tune with me. You can see I reward him everytime he looks into my eyes which encourages that engagement, lots of treats in beginning and then ween them out through the training process. Conditioning of tools are important on extreme low training levels with a slight leash pressure. Great job Boris, proud of you boy! Still a long way to go ❤️

The first day meeting Thor (as seen in a past video) he was very reactive to me and just not happy with me even being around him. Test day came. So we set up a scenario with Jordan whom which Thor had no previous contact with, seen, or interacted with. Thor did amazing, he didn't react or make a fuss, as we trained him to learn to relax and not worry about every little thing going on around him, and that the world won't stop moving just for him lol. Thor's owner did a great job by having Thor back a bit behind him and taking initiative as Jordan approached. Great job guys! 👏

I write this post with much sadness but much more hopefulness! A bit ago I posted a dog from Hillside Kennels Animal Control who was at risk of euthanasia, his name is "Boris". We also offered free training to this young boy. To everyone's shares and spread of mouth, Boris was adopted! The adopter did decline training from us, as they knew a different trainer, which is perfectly fine , we were just happy Boris found a home. Unfortunately that joy was short lived and was returned to Hillside. A few days ago Hillside Kennels Animal Control reached out to us to give Boris one more chance. We came and picked him up. We are driven and determined to give this young boy the future he deserves. We will post videos of his training journey ❤️. Any additional information shall be disclosed by Hillside Kennels Animal Control.

Thor doing some real loose leash heel walking, he did great maintaining the speed I was walking amd when I stopped he out himself in check, no correcting needed. At one point there was a small dog that came running at us and kept trying to get Thor, the owner of this small dog had to get yelled at numerous times to come get there dog, at that point Thor was complying as best he could to my separating him from the other dog. This could have ended very badly for this little dog at his own owners hands. Please keep your dogs under control and or on leash! This is not the first or 2nd time I have had strange dogs running at me while im out with a dog. I also must add that when these situations happen it can cause trauma to the dog and a dog who was not dog reactive or aggressive before can become that after trauma. Great job Thor you made me so proud! 👏

Cody did full program board and train with us and is just back for a refresher! This boy is amazing and still is, he remembers everything just needs a little reminder and needs to comply with not just myself but his owner as well since dogs are opportunists. Such a pleasure to see and work with him again ❤️

K9 Kombat Dog Training would like to welcome "Thor". Thor is on our 4 week full obedience program. Thor has been developing some reactivity to strangers and before it progresses we are going to nip that in the bud. After accessing him he reactiveness is showing more of insecurity but as he grows up and matures he will develop more confidence in his size and age to where things could and most likely get a lot worse. So we are going to build his confidence now in a different way and show him the right path. This young man has already been very positive towards his training. We also trained his house sister "Nina" in the past and she is still doing great! Thor, we are so excited to see your accomplishments, you're going to do great!

Meeting a dog the for the first day of training in need of rehab/ behavior modification is my absolute favorite, I know my stuff and I'm really good at what I do. But dogs needing this type of training and that have had aggressive tendencies in the past, I always get an anxiousness inside myself, but that's what keeps me safe. The fact that I'm cautious and I don't let my guard down, and not letting the dog sense anything in me rather than confident assertiveness. That's what keeps you from getting bit! I shake off all emotions once I walk out that door.

Today our boy Borris who was here since early March after being picked up as a stray FINALLY got the ticket out of here thanks to Jeff and his lovely daughter Aleah for coming out today and giving our big boy a chance.

At only 9 months this poor pup had ZERO people interested in adopting him and we were beginning to think he wasn't ever going to get out.

Dogs previously were here maybe 3 weeks. Now it's 3 months. It's sad to see Dogs in shelters who should be in homes. Especially young dogs who haven't even started their lives yet

Thank you thank you to all adopters willing to take a dog who might not get along with other dogs or might need a little more work

It takes great people to see the greatness in a shelter dog.

K9 Kombat Dog Training would like to welcome back "Noodle " and "Bosco". These 2 handsome fellas were in our full obedience program 1.5 years ago and are back for our 2 week refresher program! It was so great to see these boys again and how much they do remember. They have gotten back into training so easily and it helps with there family keeping up with as much as they have!
