Polly is home! 😍 Finally found my wire piebald!! 🤩 Met a new breeder friend too along this journey. 😁 Thanks LouAnn for working with me! 🙏 First 🇺🇸 dog in our program! Welcome to the Doumston Dachshund Family Polly Wog! 🐶 ? 🇨🇦 lol We now have all the coats that I wanted: blue smooth, dapple smooth, dapple long, chocolate wildboar, wire piebald! ! ✅ 😉

Teach Your Puppy How to Be Alone:

An often-overlooked situation that puppies need to face is being by themselves. Although it’s tempting to spend every minute with a new pet, it’s ESSENTIAL to teach your puppy how to be alone. Otherwise, your dog will make their own fun or even worse, develop separation anxiety.

Start with a safe confinement area like a crate or puppy playpen. Then leave your puppy inside for very short periods of time. Be sure to give them something fun to do while you’re not there such as chewing on a SAFE food-stuffed toy. This not only builds positive associations with being alone but teaches your puppy appropriate alone-time activities. Slowly increase the amount of time you leave your puppy until they are calm and confident by themselves.

On December 18th 2024 Doumston Dachshunds was blessed with 5 beautiful babies from FERCO’s 3rd litter! 🥰(Fern&Copper) Thanks to Dr. Julia and all the wonderful staff @ Ostrander Veterinary Clinic for their safe arrivals! 🤲 Babies are almost 6 weeks old, weaned, and doing wonderful! 🤩 Mum is recovered and working on her summer body! ☀️ 👙 LOL All pups were adopted before birth…but stay tuned for more exciting news at Doumston Dachshund Company! 😆 🐶 🩵 💞💞💞
