Just great. Watching his foster family organize a closet was a little boring but he knew they needed a supervisor!

Happy Tails Lulu 🐾
Coconut Retriever Lulu arrived into her foster home with her pal Dolly, however, only one of them left with a new family. Doug and Annu have fostered many dogs for our rescue, but Lulu was too good to let go. They have failed in the best possible way and Lulu is now a permanent member of their family. Doug and Annu will continue to foster and Lulu will be an ambassador for other dogs who come into care by teaching them the ropes. Lulu is enjoying her summer camping with her new family and soaking it all in.

A warm welcome to Wabusk! This tiny "white bear" which is what Wabusk means in Cree came to us from front line rescue partner Northern Reach after Wabusk was neutered in a mobile spay and neuter clinic in his community by his owner.
We are still getting to know Wabusk but look forward to seeing him to decompress and adjust to life down south.
Thank you to everyone involved who helped get Wabusk to our care - he had a long journey to travel to the GTA.
Wabusk is not available for adoption yet while we get to know him a little better and begin his vetting process. We hope to share more details about this pint sized cutie shortly.

The transformation that happens after even just a week or two in a loving, supportive foster home is pretty amazing.
Let's take beautiful, timid Amber.
Before arriving into our care, Amber was a breeding female from a puppy mill which means she has very limited life experiences and due to her previous living circumstances has not done things like play with toys, use stairs, go for a walk to the park.
Amber is being so brave and with the support of her foster home, taking steps towards experiencing normal dog things. We are so proud of her.
Although Amber still has a number of things she is working on to ensure that once she is adopted it is a smooth transition, we are accepting applications for this Cocker Spaniel. Those who have fallen in love with her will need to be patient. We always want to ensure our dogs are ready to start their next chapter.

April's smile is bright, full of positivity and busting with puppy love.
But don't let her playful sweet face fool you - she is very much a puppy. In rescue, we have the harsh reality that sometimes puppies are matched with adopters and is seems like a perfect fit - but it doesn't always work out. Puppies are a lot of hard work - they require attention, routine and training.
Sadly, April was returned to our care recently after her adoptive family wasn't able to dedicate the time a growing puppy needs. Stories like this make us sad but we want our rescue community to know that if something doesn't work out, we always want our dogs to come back to us so we can find their perfect family.
April was adopted a few months ago and has returned to the Hopeful Tails family. She is a friendly 6 month old puppy who was recently spayed. She is calm and sweet and loves her crate. April is working on her leash skills and following a routine. She adores people and other dogs and wants to meet everyone.
We will be sharing more about April as she settles into her foster home but we are already getting reports that she is such a happy girl and responding to structure and routine well.

Some wonderful news on a Sunday - a warm welcome to Amber, our newest intake.
This retired breeding Cocker Spaniel female has safely arrived into the care of our rescue. At 3 years old, she is ready to start a fresh chapter with us.
Amber is taking time to settle in, decompress and get used to her new life - she is very timid and shy. Lots of firsts for Amber. The good news is, she is loving her crate and has a loving, patient foster family to help her.

New arrival Phil got the treat of a lifestyle - a camping trip!
What a lucky puppy! Phil headed out for a camping adventure with his foster family, loved playing on the beach and relaxing in the sun. Big foster sibling Lulu showed Phil and ropes and loved having a playmate. Phil was a big hit at the campground, meeting many children, giving lots of cuddles and kisses.
Our foster dogs are so lucky to have such wonderful foster homes to grow in.

We asked our alumni to share what their Hopeful Tails dogs have been up to this summer and the pictures DID NOT disappoint.
These dogs are living their best lives - from lazy evenings on the deck, to sunbathing to camping and dock sunsets. Thank you to Buddy, Freya, Jasper, Kaya, Luna, Molly, Octavia and others for sharing their adventures with us.

Happy Tails Stella! 🐾
Stella joined us a few weeks ago, another dumped dog from Bahrain. Within a week she adapted to living with two other sh*tzus and enjoyed plenty of cuddles with her parents and their girls. Within days they knew she wasn't going anywhere, so this family now enjoys three pups. Another foster fail for our rescue but we don't mind!
Full of play, backyard shenanigans and plenty of couch snuggles, they say Stella has fit in so well, it is if she has always been there and cannot remember a time she wasn't. We look forward to plenty of updates.
Happy Tails Chiquis 🐾
When one of our past adopters learned about becoming "Flight Angels" they wanted to help. With a planned extended trip to Puerto Escondido, they were put in touch with Snip Sisters, and their rescue journey began. Eagerly helping in a spay/neuter clinic, and visiting several rescue sites, they met Chiquis, who was looking for a home.
Arriving in Toronto, Chiquis joined her foster family and there she stayed. This shy girl took some time to adapt to her new life - city living, meeting new people, dogs and extended family members. She has come a long way and is now enjoying living so close to the Toronto ravines, cottage life and long walk to mom’s law office.

Donzi, now Bauer, joined us from Bahrain and bounced into his foster home with such a zest for life that their middle aged and senior dog was unsure what to make of him. He adapted well to farm life and thrives meeting new people and dogs. Bauer soon found his family, one who could offer him plenty of dog interaction and one on one time.
Angela and Tyler recently lost their rescue and were on the hunt for another dog, hoping for a young adult. Bauer will thrive in the High Park neighbourhood, accompanying Angela to her sons baseball games and hockey practices. Bauer has made plenty of canine friends and is enjoying lots of play time.

Happy Tails Dre 🐾
Dre, now Newman, joined us over a month ago from a northern First Nation Community and he immediately made himself at home with foster canine sibling Kramer, and two legged siblings Cohen and Paisley. Newman soon learned to be able to enjoy a comfortable bed and lots of play time with Kramer, another northern but from a different province. Soon they were inseparable and the family decision was made, despite not originally intending to, to foster fail! A unique term in the rescue world but one that is such a lovely outcome for the pup and family who have grown to love him. Kramer and Newman, and yes definitely Seinfeld fans, are like brothers from another mother as they are only one month apart in age, are lucky dogs indeed.

Welcome Milo!
Milo recently joined us from a remote First Nations community in Northern Quebec. This handsome boy was a tied dog, recently neutered at the IFAW clinic in June and is estimated to be 18 months old.
Since arriving south he is making up for lost time! He loves his foster siblings, a constant tail wagger and is super affectionate. Full of s***k he will need to learn some leash manners but he is so excited to explore every nook and cranny and is a various eater. He is medium sized and will need to put some weight on.

Moving from place to place is difficult for most dogs. We have a new sense of urgency to find Dougie his forever home as his wonderful foster is moving. We are on a time crunch but really hoping we can help place Dougie into his forever home before the move date. Dougie comes with extensive obedience training, is crate and house trained. He has been exposed to horses and other dogs. A special dog with a special story. 💙Cooper💙 Earlier today we shared how our handsome & unique boy Cooper has been returned to us. If you read rescue posts, it’s common to share that a dog has been returned by no fault of their own. Cooper is a young dog who like most dogs, thrives with routine, structure and guidance from his humans. This special dog has a medical history. Experiencing Rickets, recovered and left with foreshortened humeri and bilateral elbow dysplasia and potentially hip Dysplasia, Cooper has had some challenges, but he is lucky he is a happy boy with a zest for life, and thankfully not in pain. He will likely benefit from some joint supplements.
