Rabbi Yochanan observed—

“If we had not been Given the Torah, we still would have learned modesty from the cat.”

From the internet—

Perek Shirah, A Chapter of Song, is an anonymously written, ancient text. The work is a list of 84 elements in nature and an accompanying verse from the Tanakh. Some of the elements are: sun, water, apple, lion, and fly. The message of the work is that all aspects of the natural world teach about ethics and philosophy. The lesson is learned from the attached verse from the Tanakh.

Chag Sameach Shavuot—June 11 evening-June 13.

From the internet—

Shavuot marked the wheat harvest in the Land of Israel in the Hebrew Bible according to Exodus 34:22. In addition, rabbinic tradition teaches that the date also marks the revelation of the Ten Commandments to Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai, which, according to the tradition of Orthodox Judaism, occurred at this date in 1312 BCE.[2]
The word Shavuot means "weeks" and marks the conclusion of the Counting of the Omer. Its date is directly linked to that of Passover; the Torah mandates the seven-week Counting of the Omer, beginning on the second day of Passover, to be immediately followed by Shavuot. This counting of days and weeks is understood to express anticipation and desire for the giving of the Torah. On Passover, the people of Israel were freed from their enslavement to Pharaoh; on Shavuot, they were given the Torah and became a nation committed to serving God.

I made us lemonade for our anniversary party. A bowl of sliced lemon was set on the table. This is what the internet says about the lemon—

Etrog refers to the heart, the place of understanding and wisdom.
(Etrog is a citron we use at Sukkot along with lulav. We shake it North, south, east and west, sending G-d’s Blessing to the four corners of the earth)

Our friends gathered— May we all be blessed with good health, prosperity and G-d’s continued protection. Amen.

Most breeds of dogs legs are made for strength to carry and walk beside man with endurance.

A greyhound’s legs are slender and nimble to soar with flight and walk with grace.

Bello (beautiful boy) came to me in 2008 as a 10 week old puppy. He and his brother, Bingo, were Kyle’s clients. The owner had just purchased them at P.J’s Pets. They boarded at Kyle’s house in Vaughan off and on until they were 9 months old. I had mentioned to Kyle I would take Bello if Chris ever wanted to give him up. I see now it was all the Hand of Hashem.

Kyle called me one day and asked me when I could pick the dogs up. I assumed they were coming in again for boarding. Chris gave me the dogs to keep—they were getting into mischief and he thought maybe he didn’t have enough time for them. They were 9 months old.

He would sit at my side and hear the path HaShem Gave to the living. He knew the heart of love. He saw the change in path. He saw the heart at loss.

He saw the earth for a long time. He knew the Hand of G-d would be my Shield. The canine truth was established when HaShem asked them to guard, protect, see ahead and recognize His Chosen apart from others.

It was asked why the dog would merit mentioning in the Perek Shirah it was because he had heard Hashem and completed each task He Gave.

Baire was aging well. He slowed over the past few months. He showed me Hashem had Given. He needed the heart to understand his time would draw to a close. “He’s really going down. He’s like a 90 year old man. What can you do?” George had seen what Baire needed to be seen.

I took Baire to Kathy’s on a Saturday night, March 2. I knew he couldn’t endure the bus and subway trip by walking so I put him in the children’s plastic wagon I had purchased for Oscar on kijjijji. It was $10. The lady gave it to me. A mitzvot in G-d’s Sight— she had no idea what I had intended to use the wagon for.

We got to Kathy’s street. I decided to let Baire walk from there to his new home. He couldn’t. For the first time in his life he failed to thrive the Earth’s existence. I put him back in the wagon. I thought he had sat too long in the wagon— he would limber up.

Once in the house, he walked over and stood beside Kathy for patting. He saw their living. A friend was found —her earth would give its abundance to those who seek. He knew he could sleep, it was time.

The next morning he found strength. We walked around the back near her gate. The patio would be seen as its fortress. His earth would draw near now to where it was Given— the dust upon which he walked would be seen as his earth— his forth coming.

He spent the day beside a friend. They talked of love. Her way seen by Hashem as Given by Him. A father her hand, a mother her grace. Her dogs her charges— their duty to protect, to abide, their life her course. He’d die in their midst.

The next morning I took him to the ravine. The one I’ve known with my client’s dogs. To be seen as a heart and hand together with one who had shared my path a long time. His heart would see the change for me. His grave not distant. He would come out from the ravine, in his wagon, not long for his Earth

The next morning as I brought him down stairs, Kathy quickly suggested taking him out the back— I realize now it was Hashem’s Voice. He knew the call He had instructed the canine— to know the perimeter he was to protect. One last task before Hashem would take him.

He walked unsteady toward the gate and out the narrow path beside the house. His journey. Complete. He could rest tonight with the thought he knew his guard. Alll would be safe. Her dogs would hear— he would know.

He spent the next few days unsure of his feet, his sustenance all he knew. The grave listened. She thought she smelled him near, his voice commanded—“I’m here”. She would look and see. Her frame he knew.

I lay near him. His voice would call I heard. I’d say “I know you’re mine”. His time came. Six days after he arrived at her home, a friend would see— a heart would give its last thought. It was Erev Shabbat between 6-7 am.

He saw a heart of love. He knew its path. To protect and abide is what HaShem has Given a canine.

“Service and obedience is what mankind will see. The heart will strain to find one more loyal”.
