The wonderful humans at Mally’s need our help to keep their doors open and save the trash pandas 🗑️🦝💖
We’ve made a donation for a years worth of monthly pledges. Please consider signing up and making a $20 monthly donation too if you’re able. Keeping our wildlife healthy is so important for everyone, especially our pups and Mally’s are the only ones doing the work to help the raccoon issues in Toronto.
HOW DO WE SAY THIS.......
14 years of helping raccoons has been an amazing and rewarding experience for Barb and myself. Such beautiful animals they are.
Mallys seemed to grow its own engine and took off with sooo many kind and incredible people joining the cause. It has been a privilege and honor to work with everyone and we can't thank all enough for helping to save so many lives here and out there.
Such a network including great staff, rescuers, volunteers, Doctors, teachers, animal advocates, municipal governments, provincial government, schools/universities and the list goes on.
Baby season is winding down and tough decisions need to be made for the community sake and our own sanity and well being and we don't want to leave everything to the last minute without giving/including the community with plenty of notice.
Unfortunately and sadly, through many discussions with our board and between Barb and myself, our final day will be Sept 30 to keep the doors open other than some raccoons that may need to winter with us. We will make sure they are safe and cared for. Giving notice is the responsible thing to do we feel considering our circumstances.
It has been beyond stressful and has drained our personal funding and this remains no way to run a wildlife center on $3200.00/mth in mthly donations plus pleading for help when a sick one comes in. We never know, if we can help one tomorrow or not. We have exceeded our limits for sometime now and are unable to proceed suplimenting the needs. Our passion has taken all we have, money heart and soul.
With giving 60 days notice to the community and friends, ultimately Mallys, the organization is in your hands. I would be beyond sad to see such an incredible network need to unwind as it may never happen again, but reality is a tough wall to face sometimes. I have had many sleepless nights trying to think of solutions.
So in the end, I have one final hope and challenge to extend to the community for the sake of the animals and a final prayer......and that is for many that can, in small amounts, to meet the current average obligation of 20k per mth in expenses (we have 3200.00 currently) so this resource can remain in Ontario. We don't what else to do. This would be as simple as 1000 people giving 20$ per mth. But yet not so simple....... but we have to at least try one last time.
We will post updates as we approach Sept 30 as Mallys is now up to you. I can't do it on my own any more. The stress of not knowing what can be achieved or paid tomorrow over the years is slowly taking Barbs and my life physically and mentally :( this is true.
Saving animals like Calder below (picture taken yesterday) who had mouth surgery and doing well is where my heart is, but if it's not doable, it's not doable :( I understand. We have done all we can and know how to do. We at least together tried, saved many souls and that's a good thing.
