It was a busy weekend. Blue, the Staffordshire Terrier was boarding with us all weekend. Hokis, the Maltese/Shih Zhou mix came both days for doggy daycare.

*****This post is a reminder to all of my friends who have dog fur babies*****
Please ensure you have your dog tested annually for heartworm and Lyme disease. You also need to ensure your dog is put on flea/tick/heartworm meds to prevent infection. You also might want to consider giving the meds beyond the recommended 6 month time frame. As temperatures are warmer later in the fall and earlier in the spring, ticks and fleas are becoming active later/earlier respectively.
Our dog, Mila, tested positive for chronic Lyme disease. Thankfully it is not impacting her health (most dogs are asymptomatic and the disease is not as serious as the human version), but we do need to monitor her in case that changes. We gave her meds last year, but only until September. Thinking back, we believe she was infected from a tick in November. This year, we'll be giving her preventive meds until probably December.

Today was the 108th and final walk with Atlas, the 12 year old German Shepherd. He makes his final trip to the vet tomorrow afternoon. 😥
Mila and I will miss our daily visit with him.
