Josefa (Pepa) is the most adorable little pup who came to see us. Everyone couldn’t get over him and his big puppy dog eyes, so we just had to vote him most likely to brighten your day. Wouldn’t that face brighten your day, too?

June 2nd is national cancer survivors day. As much as we wish it didn’t, cancer also affects life’s sidekicks. During your annual wellness exam, our doctors feel for any lumps and bumps your little friend might have. If you notice one before your exam however, we do always suggest you make an appointment for a doctor to take a look. Just like in humans, early detection is key! .

May is Asian Heritage Month! This is a time to reflect on the contributions to our society by those of Asian heritage. We’d love to take a moment and highlight two of our team members.

Paolo, our RVT, has worked at Cabbagetown Pet Clinic for 3 years and is an integral part of our team. Paolo handles many tasks around the clinic such as assisting the doctors with surgery, like seen here.

Dr Debbie Chew, one of our DVMs, has been with us since September. If you’ve been in recently - you’ve probably seen Dr Chew around the clinic. From sick appointments, vaccines and surgery, Dr Chew does so many things for the clinic.

Thank you Dr Chew & Paolo for your contributions to

This week is . Veterinary medicine, although rewarding, also has some very difficult low periods. 2/3 of veterinarians and vet med staff have reported mental health concerns. Depression, burnout, anxiety and compassion fatigue are very common among the veterinary community and vet med is one of the leading professions for suicidal tendencies.
You never know what’s going on behind closed doors - or behind the next door over in a veterinary office.

Please be kind for everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. ♥️🐾

? A female flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day, which means that in 3 weeks, a single prolific female flea can lay 1,000 eggs! In another 3 weeks, those eggs can hatch and lay 1,000 eggs each. This means that within 6 weeks, it’s possible to have a million new fleas!
Nothing should come between you and your cat. Parasite preventatives aren’t just for dogs! Protection for our furry friends is available.

Cabbagetown Pet Clinic

With compassion and commitment, our AAHA-accredited Cabbagetown Pet Clinic is dedicated to delivering comprehensive preventive health care services and the highest quality of veterinary medicine to the pets of our devoted, diverse and engaged clients.

The Cabbagetown Pet Clinic has been a fixture in the historic east Toronto Cabbagetown neighbourhood for 35 years. In August of 2008, Dr. Jennifer Day purchased the practice from Dr. Scott McClure and has steadily built the practice into what it is today – a modern, efficient and compassionate pet hospital, serving pet lovers in one of Toronto’s most unique neighbourhoods.

Since this acquisition, our expanding clinic has assembled an exceptionally talented and devoted team of veterinarians - Dr. Amanda Low, Dr. Brittany Lostracco, Dr. Jackie Elmhurst and of course, Dr. Jennifer Day.

The veterinarians are supported by a professional and compassionate group of Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) and Client Service Representatives. Their patience and attentiveness – combined with a healthy dose of kindness - help ensure that your visit is always a pleasant one for you and your pet.
