We provide dog boarding in our home in the St Clair West area of Toronto, Ontario and make snuffle mats and tugs for dogs. Dog Boarding Highlights:

Big City Bird Dog Co. We love the city, but also take any chance we get to go on adventures hiking, kayaking, and camping across Ontario! Berkeley was the first dog I've raised and trained as an adult. I grew up on a farm on the east coast with lots of animals around all the time, but I quickly discovered that owning and raising an active dog in the big city is a different story! A sporting or working dog in the big city needs lots of physical and mental stimulation. Berkeley and Elly love to learn and I strive to keep them active, happy, and engaged through training, enrichment games, interactive play, and participation in a range of dog sports (barn hunt, field training, nosework, tracking, rally-obedience, agility). This philosophy is the foundation of our approach to boarding at Big City Bird Dog Co. We are hanging out at Northern Derby Agility Club all weekend helping out our friends Renegade Rope Leads and The Dog Nerd Designs! 🐶

We are Pet First Aid certified via Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid! (Aug 2023, 3-year certification) 🐶⛑️🩹

Elly and Berkeley were excellent practice dogs for all the important first aid skills, so they got certificates too!

Highly recommend this course for all pet owners and professionals. Available online and in-person!

We are also insured by PROfur - Business Insurance for Pet Care Professionals.

Isn’t Luigi the cutest snuffler!?! 🐶💜 We apparently specialize in boarding for all the urban bird dogs now! 🐶🐦 This is our very first #lagottoromagnolo friend!

Training time with Hugo! 🐶 Hugo’s family told me that he likes to counter surf (like many adolescent dogs!), so we spent some time practicing NOT counter surfing for increasingly delicious treats on the counter! 🦴🍖🍗🥩 Hugo did GREAT! 5x speed video so you can see the progression!

Stay practice with Hugo part 2!!! 🐶 We’re working on a platform to start, to help it be very clear to Hugo what the criteria is (stay on the platform). And, today worked on minor, but manageable, distractions like me walking around, locking/unlocking the front door (behind the camera), and me waving a toy around a bit. Hugo aced them all! We will keep working at this level with a variety of distractions until Hugo is super confident, then will try removing the platform and working without any distractions and building back up to staying with distractions!

We are almost all booked up for February and March dog boarding, so we stocked up on some special chews from BullySticks.ca to share with our guests! Berk seems to think he needs to taste test them all first though! 😂

We always work on some training with boarding dogs, especially the puppies! 🐶 Hugo the the brittany practiced impulse control games while he was here last week! (with Elly standing by for moral support of course!)

The britts are totally happy to share a kibble filled snuffle mat for a bedtime snack! 🐶🐶 Not all dogs are ok with sharing food, and that’s ok, but I love that these two are totally ok with it! 💜
