Toronto’s streets are buzzing with delivery drivers, and your doorstep has likely become a hub of activity! While the increase in package deliveries is convenient for us, it can be overwhelming for our dogs. Barking, pacing, or jumping at the door are common reactions—but they don’t have to be the norm.

Here are a few quick tips to help your pup stay calm:

1️⃣ Desensitize the Doorbell: Practice ringing the doorbell or knocking, then rewarding your dog for staying calm. Repeat until the sound becomes less exciting.

2️⃣ Create a Safe Space: Set up a cozy, quiet spot away from the door where your dog can relax when deliveries are expected.

3️⃣ Keep Them Busy: Offer a puzzle toy, chew, or treat to distract them during busy times.

4️⃣ Use Positive Reinforcement: Reward your dog when they remain calm as packages arrive.
