🍅 Our full season, in-person program provides you with hands-on learning at our urban farm in Downsview Park and a share of the harvest.

🥦 We also have an 8 week online program that includes live sessions with plenty of time to ask questions.

And that’s a wrap on our last official Grow Veggies class of the season! This week we did a big harvest, took down the trellising, and planted garlic. One of my favourite things is that this year’s students plant garlic for next year’s students, who plant garlic for the following year’s students, and so on. Next week we have an optional session to put the rest of the teaching garden to bed for the winter, and then we’ll start prepping for next year’s program. 💖

Saving Cygnet Marigold seeds. Pick off the dried flowers, pull the seeds out of the flower head, and store them for planting next year. Marigolds are one of the easiest seeds to save, and we love the many benefits they bring to the garden - they’re a companion plant, a pollinator attractor, and they bring pop of colour!

At the end of each class our students take home a share of the harvest to enjoy at home. Check out tonight’s harvest!

Time to start some seeds indoors so that they get a head start once the weather’s right. We grow a variety of peppers, most of which are destined for our homemade hot sauce! 🌶️🌶️🌶️

You can now register for our 2023 Grow Veggies program, a 7-month, hands-on course that teaches how to plan, plant, maintain, and harvest a vegetable garden. The weekly in-person sessions take place at our urban farm in Downsview Park, Toronto. We also offer a 15-week online program, with weekly live sessions that include lots of time to ask questions about your own garden at home.
