K9 Expeditions specializes in exercising sporting breeds such as German Shorthaired Pointers, Vizslas, Weimaraners and other highly active dogs. We provide structured 3-4 hour hikes outside of the city of Toronto, picking your dog up in the morning and delivering him or her home in the late afternoon. During a typical 10km hike, we will work with your dog on their recall, obedience, social manners

and more. Your dog will be in the care of human hiking leaders who are experienced in working with sporting breeds and who love active dogs.

Our second annual Moxie’s Run 5k run/walk will take place on Sunday September 29th this year! It would really mean the world to us if you can make this event.
As some of you may know, my Beagle Moxie passed away on August 2, 2019. It was the most heartbreaking moment of my entire life. I was one of those people who said “She’s almost 10 years old and acts like a puppy. I think she’s going to live until 17!” This was all immediately taken away from me when she had a serious seizure for the first time ever on January 1, 2019. When I took her in for a scan, they told me she not only had a Brain Tumour, but a Thyroid Tumour as well. Her health quickly declined and I lost her a few months after her diagnosis. She passed away 2 days after her 10th birthday.
Since her passing, we wanted to host an event to raise awareness and funding for Canine Cancer. The proceeds would go towards families who are struggling with financing treatment for their dogs, and to advance research.
The Moxie Run For Canine Cancer will be a 5k Run/Walk event. We will have limited spots available for people who want to include their dogs in the event. If your dogs don’t know us, they may need to pass a temperament evaluation.
We have some big goals for this event and really hope you can help us achieve them. The event will take place at Bruce’s Mill in Stouffville at 9am.

Major is a lab that was surrendered for serious resource guarding issues and aggression issues towards humans. Dallas is a golden retriever that was surrendered for serious resource guarding issues and issues towards humans as well. Both of these dogs have collectively hurt a lot of people, but come in the softest, sweetest looking package. They also don’t act dangerous at all until they are dangerous.
Well the good news is, these two have really pulled their weight here. They are best friends with each other, and have been able to help open up a lot of the new, nervous dogs that stay here. They are both so gutsy and will go up to any nervous or aggressive dog and will somehow win them over. I always wished they would find homes, but they have both failed so many times. Some dogs struggle in the average home because people coddle them, talk to them too much and annoy them. These dogs seem to love a life of play and rest. A kennel life.
Here’s to hoping they can both find a forever home, but please don’t ask if you can’t give them better than this. They are living the best lives they can here and they are changing many unsocial dogs lives. They went from nearly being euthanized to becoming daily dog therapists. On top of all of this, we don’t have a single issue with these dogs.
Here’s to hoping they will find a happy ending, but maybe they have already found it ❤️😂.

We have some more fun events on the 26th of November! We hope to see you at some of them ❤️.
9am - Another good old puppy social. These are always a great time. Great for puppies that are a little shy or haven’t been socialized often.
10am - Our first ever little dog social. Any dog under 20lbs is welcome to come. Even puppies. Great for little dogs especially if they aren’t very comfortable around larger dogs.
1pm - Impulse Control & Reactivity. Another difficult and fun class. High pressure, lots of exercises. It will be great for dogs looking to build their tolerance.
3pm - Trainer Vs Client Impulse control class.
Our FIRST EVER trainer Vs client class. We might only do this once 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ who knows lol. There will be points and a score board. Come by to take us down. It will be fun and difficult.
4:15pm - Dog Social Hike
For dogs that have been off leash trained by us. We will go on a hike with a group of dogs off leash. Great for dogs that have good obedience but struggle with socializing.
5:30pm and 6:30pm - Dog Social - Indoor.
A full hour of social time. Great for dogs that are nervous, territorial or full of energy. Our team will help manage all of the social interactions for safety.
All of these events are open only to people that have worked with us before. Check our bio or message us to come. We hope to see you there ❤️

Hi everyone,

We have some fun events this weekend and we would love if you could join. Some of them have filled, but there are a few that we haven’t told you about yet.
1. Puppy Social at 9am. An hour of puppy play. A fun time for all of your dogs. No treats allowed. Puppies must be under 7 months old.
2. Halloween Reactive Dog Class
For the first time ever, a Halloween themed impulse control and reactivity class. Come in costumes if you like. Class will include tunnels, jumps and scares.
3. Beginner Agility. A fan favourite and something we haven’t offered in a little while. Agility for dogs of all ages. We can get you started if you’re looking to compete in the future.
4. Dog Social Hike & Indoor
Due to the popularity of these events, we opened another slot at 4pm. A dog social with dogs that are not comfortable around dogs, nervous or reactive. Our dogs will be involved and some helpers. Good for excitable and rude dogs as well.
Links for all events are in bio or you can DM me. ONLY for previous and current K9 Academy clients

3 new exciting events 🎉
💡Dog Socialization Seminar
A seminar about how to properly socialize your dog so they don’t develop any long term issues with other dogs. We will go over body language, things to address and things to leave. Most importantly, we will show you how we integrate nervous, reactive & aggressive into our groups. With these strategies, you can take dogs that were initially very bad with dogs, and teach them to interact and become comfortable with dogs in their space. All of the working spots will be integrated into our social groups
💡Human Socialization Seminar
A seminar where we teach dogs how to safely co-exist and interact with humans. In this seminar we will go over practical ways to introduce dogs to strangers especially if this is usually a challenge for them. We will do multiple different exercises to teach them how to interact. All working spots will be interacting with the people in the class.
🥏Play & Engagement Seminar
In this seminar, we will go over all the methods and strategies to build your dogs engagement and motivation to play. If getting your dogs to engage with you or play in a new environment is difficult, this will be the seminar for you. We will also cover WHY dog’s don’t engage in new environments and how to change that.
Dates and times are on the photos and the link to register is in our bio. All of these seminars will take place in our new outdoor space. We will have very limited working spots (spots where your dog will be actively worked in the class) and tons of audit spots (watching only).

🎉COMING SOON🎉
Academy Daycare!
We just got a new space in Richmond Hill. Over 7500 sqft of Daycare, Training and event space. We will be launching in a couple of months.
Here are the programs we will be offering:
🐶 Structured Daycare
A daycare that involves play and fun as well as rules and boundaries so dogs don’t get wild and overstimulated. All staff will be trained and managed by us.
🐶Day and Train
Similar to a board and train, but your dog gets to go home at the end of the day! We will go on group pack walks, practice impulse control, run your dog on a slatmill and safely socialize them with the daycare groups.
🐶Reactive Dog Friendly
One thing we have always been skilled at doing is integrating reactive, nervous and anxious dogs into play groups. As our teams skillset increases, we will be welcoming dogs that would often be expelled from your average daycare.
🐶Fun Training Classes
When our staff is fully trained we will finally run Beginner, and advanced agility. We will also host leash walking and basic obedience classes.
Please check out academydaycare.ca if you want to get on a waitlist or have any questions!

Announcing: Expedition Program!
To honour the start of this company, we have created our “Expedition Program”. This is an off leash hiking program which will include clients and dogs. We will hike as a group through local trails.
If you would like to join us on these hikes, you would have to complete our advanced program (test not required) and the graduation hike. We will host a few hiking spots each month. It’s a great opportunity to expose and socialize your dogs in an off-leash environment.
We may have already sent you an email about this, but please feel free to reach out if you would like to join. We hope to see you there!

Hello everyone, we wanted to finally introduce our ELITE program! This will be a 12 week program and only available for people who have completed our ADVANCED Program and passed our advanced test. The program will start on March 31, 2023 at 7pm. I know it’s a while out, but this gives everyone time to prepare and pass our advanced program to get ready! You can contact us to be added to the wait list!
This program will include a number of different exercises which will be fun and challenging, but also impractical for daily life.
We will cover:
🐕 Proper Off- Leash heeling. (Sport heel/head up heel). If you have wondered how to properly teach this, we can show you in this program as well as integrating turns and drive.
🏋️ Retrieves over ramps and jumps as well as random object retrieves. Random objects will include dumbbells, boxes, books, small pipes and even food 🍕
👃 Scent search and indication. The dog will be required to find and indicate amongst different scents.
🙈 Blind search. The dog will have to search for an object behind a number of blinds
💀Send Outs, and Recall exercises. Send out to a mark, send out down, recall stand. Each recall and send out exercise will be hard.
We will also have an elite test after this program that we will run once a year. The test will include everything we have listed here as well as some very high pressure distractions. We will have a video of the test to demonstrate how it works, but we are aiming to make it HARD to pass and VERY HARD to score well. We hope to see you all soon!

08/29/2022

Hey everyone, we’re excited to introduce you to a new webinar we will be running. It has been highly requested, because this is something that the average dog owner has been struggling with especially since the start of the pandemic. Does your dog struggle when you leave them alone?

You’ve likely been scouring the internet, going down a Google rabbit hole to discover “how to fix separation anxiety.” If you have, you may have come across a variety of “fixes” that distract the dog when you’re gone—things like frozen Kongs, lick pads, music, and even medication—but none of them address the root problem.

The root problem is that your dog does not know how to settle when you are not present. They are unable to handle being completely independent for extended periods of time.

Our Separation Anxiety Webinar will review all of our proven methods for tackling separation anxiety so that you can achieve REAL and LASTING results.

In this 45 minute webinar, you will learn from our Canine Behavioural Specialists on how to properly desensitize a dog struggling with Separation Anxiety.

We will cover topics such as:
- Crate Training
- Effective Training Schedules
- Necessary Tools
- Common Misconceptions
- How to Succeed Long-Term
We only have one webinar at the moment, but will open up spots again in a couple of months!
Link will be in our bio to register!

Hi everyone! We would like to announce our next fun drop in class! We will call it The K9 Olympics 😂.
This class will be limited to 20 participants, and everyone who has worked with us will be welcome! Here’s how it will work:
We will have 2 teams of 10. In each team, you can nominate members of your team to do one of the following challenges. We will make sure everyone gets a turn. Some people may go multiple times!
Challenge 1.
Toss and Retrieve 🎾
You will select 3 members of your team to toss a toy and send their dog to go retrieve it. You will have to toss first and keep your dog in a sit until the referee whistles. These are done one dog at a time. First team to finish wins this round.
Challenge 2 🛑 ✋🏻
Down Stay With High Pressure
This will be evaluated on a points system. You will select 4 dogs on your team to complete numerous high pressure down stay challenges. The other team will also be distracting your dogs! Team with the highest points wins.
Challenge 3 🐎
Agility and Confidence Course
You will select 4 dogs on your team to do this exercise. We will have a course with pylons, ramps and jumps. In this course, the team to finish the course fastest wins.
Challenge 4 🧀🪤
Impulse Control.
You will select 3 dogs on your team to do a number of impulse control and recall exercises. This will include food and toys on the floor and being thrown.
Challenge 5 🦤🐋
Tug Of War
If we end up with a tie, we will need a fun tiebreaker. Each team will volunteer 1 dog and handler on their team to compete with the other team. A large rope will be fed through a PVC pipe holding the dogs preferred toy on each end. The dog that pulls the other dog over the line wins.
Date and time:
Sept 18, 2022. 5pm.
Location will be sent via email.

We wrapped up our week long apprenticeship program last night, and what a wonderful experience it was!
The amount of talent and passion in this industry is incredible and it doesn’t really hit you it until a group of them is in front of you asking great questions and soaking everything up.
The future of this industry is in great hands! Thanks to all who attended and everyone who came as a guest speaker as well. A giant thank you to for being the best co-trainer ever and for organizing and developing all of our material! What a fun week and we can’t wait to see what you all accomplish!

Hello everyone!
We are so excited to invite you to our SECOND Pack Walk + Patio Event! We had lots of feedback and requests from our last event, so we decided to do it again! This event will take place on Saturday, September 10 at 6:30pm. Muddy York Brewing Co.]] has been generous enough to host us on their patio!
We have been doing pack walks for a while, and we figured it was time to add a little more excitement to the events. We will start with a neighbourhood walk (30min) near the venue and return for a drink and food if they have food vendors available. You must pre-register to attend. Anyone who has previously worked with us or an approved trainer is welcome. We are excited to see you all again, and if we haven’t met before, please DM us for approval to come to the event. We are aware that most of the dogs at these events were formerly reactive, so making sure the dogs have a clear understanding of the rules in a setting like this is very important.
Rules for the event:
🐶 No on-leash greetings without permission from the owner
🐶 No judging other dogs and owners
🐶 No petting unknown dogs without owner’s permission
🐶 A muzzle should be on at the patio if the dog has an extensive bite history
🐶Dogs should have a reliable down-stay command.
Location and Time:
Saturday September 10. 6:30 pm.
Muddy York Brewing Co.]]
22 Cranfield Rd EAST YORK ON.
Please bring water for your dog.
Price: Walk is free. Drinks are Purchased directly from Muddy York Brewing Co.]].
Please register by clicking on the link in our bio and selecting “Pack Walk + Patio”. Fill out the form in the link. We will email you prior to the event with some rules and instructions!

Our Story

K9 Expeditions specializes in exercising working breeds. We provide structured hikes outside of the city of Toronto, picking your dog up in the morning and delivering him or her home in the late afternoon. During a typical hike, we will work with your dog on their recall, obedience, social manners and more. Your dog will be in the care of human hiking leaders who are experienced in working with sporting breeds and who love active dogs.
