❤🇨🇦 Three unique dog breeds originating from are the Newfoundland, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and the Canadian Inuit Dog (also known as the Canadian Eskimo Dog). The Labrador Retriever, while very popular in Canada, is not considered a uniquely Canadian breed, though it originated in Newfoundland, Canada.

Here's a bit more about each:

🐶Newfoundland:
This large, gentle breed is known for its webbed feet and swimming abilities.

🐶Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever:
This medium-sized breed, with its distinctive red coat, is known for its unique "tolling" hunting style.

🐶Canadian Inuit Dog:
A strong, working dog used for pulling sleds by the Inuit people, it's one of the oldest Arctic dog breeds.

🐶Bringing home a new puppy is super exciting, but it's normal to have a lot on your mind. People often worry about their puppy's health, how they're behaving, and the big commitment of time and money involved. It's also common to question if they're doing a good enough job as a puppy parent.😬

🐾When it comes to behaviour, things like potty training, chewing everything, barking a lot, and separation anxiety are frequent concerns. Plus, many people experience what's known as the "puppy blues"—a period where they might feel anxious, frustrated, or even a little regretful as they adjust to all the challenges of having a puppy. But don't worry, it gets better!🙌

Yelling, forcing, or pleading with your dog might yield temporary results, but these power plays eventually backfire. Instead of fostering cooperation, they create conflict. 😬The more we push, the more our dogs resist or withdraw.😟

This common dynamic turns dog parenting into a battleground rather than a connection. Daily life becomes a series of tactical exchanges—struggles over recalls, leash pulling, stays, and attention.

We lose sight of who our dogs are becoming, focusing instead on simply surviving a walk without another meltdown. 🥴

The constant discomfort we feel isn't just exhaustion; it's the grief of losing the relationship we always envisioned having with our dogs. 😔

🗺Navigating the challenges of adolescence in dogs can be tough. Here are three Positive Partner Pathways to help you through it, offered with understanding and without judgment.🤲

1⃣Social and Self-Confident: Perfect for pups and dogs that are timid, overwhelmed, or need a confidence boost.

2⃣Calm & Connected: Best for dogs that can be reactive, overstimulated and overexcited in specific situations

3⃣Focused & Fun: Ideal for dogs that get distracted easily, have a lot of energy, or are independent.

Let's hop on a Discovery Call to figure out which pathway fits you and your dog. best. Just click the link below to book.

Rabbit Hole #2: Getting Stuck on One Skill 🐇

Dog training can lead down "rabbit holes"—complex issues that consume time without significant progress.

🐰The Problem: Focusing too much on a single trick or obedience command (cue) while overlooking crucial elements like connection and your dog's overall well-being.

🐰The Trap: Devoting excessive effort to one behaviour when your dog lacks confidence or motivation in other areas.

🐰The Solution: Prioritize your dog's effort, confidence, and engagement over achieving a specific skill perfectly.

Ever tried to get your dog to do something simple—like sit before getting their dinner or look at you when you say their name, or even just play with an offered toy?😩

📶Imagine a frustrating phone call plagued by dropped signals. The weak connection makes it nearly impossible to understand the other person, leading to raised voices and frantic movement in search of better reception.

Instead of clarity, all that comes through is static, garbled words, and a growing sense of despair that makes you want to give up.😓

And then, when your dog is unresponsive—sniffing, looking away, or even acting hyper, you worry they’ll get stuck and always be that way—something kicks in. You feel the heat rise, the panic flicker, the old scripts bubble up. 🗯

We reach for our no -nonsense dog training utility belt. 😬Before you can say “For the love of all things holy!” We threaten. We bribe. We yell. We plead. We force.
Anything to regain a sense of order and certainty in the moment

It’s instinctive.
It feels productive.
It’s what good dog parents do, right?

Sometimes, it even works—briefly.

But over time, those type of power plays start to cost more than they deliver.
Instead of cooperation, we often create conflict. 🙁Yelling leads to greater distance, and added pressure results in resistance or withdrawal.

However, there's a different approach.👍🏻

Imagine being

✅Calm instead of over-reactive.
✅Curious instead of controlling.
✅Collaborative instead of combative.

This shift can inspire your dog to listen and stay connected, fostering more joy and a stronger desire to spend time together. 🤝

Build teamwork with your dog through play, empowerment, and effective communication. 💪🏻Contact me to learn how!
