😬I have something to share with you today. Having once suffered from panic attacks and a fear of flying ✈, I understand the stress and anxiety that comes with having a nervous or fearful dog.

🐶Leash Reactivity: 3 Tips for Better Walks

Does your dog bark and lunge on leash? Leash reactivity makes walks stressful for everyone.

Here's how to make walks fun again:

1️⃣Ditch the Flexi-Leash: Short, non-extendable leashes give you better control over your dog's behaviour during neighbourhood walks.
2️⃣Change Directions: If you see a trigger, turn around and walk the other way. It's simple and avoids a potential meltdown.
3️⃣Remember, It's Not Personal: Leash reactivity is often caused by fear, frustration, or lack of training. Your dog isn't trying to be naughty.

I was frustrated and nearly hopeless due to my dog Cashew's unruly behaviour. 😭Thankfully, the Who's Walking Who Training Centre provided an objective perspective and life-changing insights. I quickly realized how my actions contributed to Cashew's behaviour and learned how to improve it. My frustration turned into confidence and excitement. I was eager to take Cashew on walks, teach him new things, and hope his behaviour would improve. 🤞🏻

My experience with Cashew was so impactful that it inspired me to become a dog trainer.
✅I have 25 years of experience as a Head Dog Trainer in multiple training methodologies and behaviour modification for various dog breeds and temperaments.
✅In 2019, I started Imagine Dog Training, specializing in service and therapy dogs. ✅My diverse background in dog sports, including agility, flyball, disc, obedience, and musical freestyle, has helped me develop strong communication, teamwork, and motivational skills.
✅I also spent 15 years as part of the Superdogs! Productions team, where I gained extensive experience training dogs in performance, choreography, and professionalism.
✅Additionally, I am an Instructor at Camp Do**in' It, where I share my knowledge and experience with other inspired dog owners.

Dominance training and the idea that dogs are pack animals are outdated and harmful. 🙅‍♀️ Research shows that dogs want to cooperate and please their humans. Confrontational training only creates distrust and damages the bond between dogs and their owners. 😓

🐶 Sure...I'm a dog trainer, but that doesn't mean my job is all about dogs. (I admit, I also thought it would be all about dogs when I started 30 years ago.)

However, once I started my professional dog training career, I quickly realized that my job also required me to understand and teach my human clients. 🤗⁣

Honestly, it is more like 25% dog and 75% human training, but that's okay! 🤣Teaching people how to have better and more cooperative relationships with their dogs and eliminating their frustrations and struggles is just as fulfilling for me. ⁣
