๐พ Rosie's Transformation: From Limited Walks to Leash Pro ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ถ
Meet Rosie, the spirited 18-month-old Cockapoo, and her devoted human, Susanne. Rosie's journey began with a challenging start, having broken her leg as a young pup, which limited her outdoor adventures. As she grew, so did her enthusiasm for walks, but it came with a persistent habit of pulling on the leash. ๐๐ฆด
Susanne, eager to help Rosie become the best version of herself on their outings, reached out for support. ๐ค๐
Our three-month journey was nothing short of transformative. We delved into Focus exercises, honed the art of Loose Leash Walking, and embraced Pattern Games to make walks a joy for both Rosie and Susanne. ๐ฏ๐พ๐
With unwavering dedication and consistent practice, Rosie and Susanne have evolved into an incredible duo, enjoying harmonious walks together. ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐พ
Rosie's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the remarkable transformation that unfolds when dedication and love are at the heart of every stride. ๐โค๏ธ

๐คซ I have a secret behaviour that I teach all my dogs to do. ๐คญ
My dogs learn a paws-up behaviour during the leash-up time because I want them to:
โ
Build confidence and autonomy.
โ
Move into my space and not avoid me.
โ
Make leashing up fun and effortless.
There are a select few clients to whom I teach this behaviour, but I'm wondering if this should be a generalized learned skill for everyone.
What do you think? Please post your thoughts below.

Wow, it's hard to believe that three years have passed already! ๐ฑ
๐Crate training is one of the top things on my to-do list when I get a puppy.
๐ The crate on my bed so my puppers can sleep with me but remain contained.
I hoped she would come to see the crate as a safe and comfortable place to sleep.๐ค
๐We want to minimize stress during this important transition to life with your family.
This plan works and is what I advise all my clients to do when they begin crate training. โ
The crate on the bed is not forever but a starting point that will not jeopardize your relationship with your baby dog. ๐ฅฐ

Meet Sparky, our new dog! We're thrilled to have him join our family, especially to help socialize my client's dogs.
Today, Spring met Sparky for the first time. Although Spring had mixed feelings, I am satisfied with the introduction, and we're planning to work on mutual calmness exercises to address any issues. Maybe we will go for a walk together. ๐คญ
I am confident that Sparky will be an excellent addition to Team Imagine Dog Training! ๐ฅฐ

Cardboard Fun with Spring
Following our Discovery Call, the next step is a Discovery Meet where we delve into the first step of Behavioural Wellness or Exit 1 of LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Invasive). During this meeting, we discuss essential topics such as Exercise, Enrichment, Veterinary Care, Sleep, Diet, Sociability, Routines, and Schedules. Our primary goal is to guarantee that your dog's needs are being met within the context of your specific family and situation.
Here is a video of my dog, Spring, enjoying some cardboard shredding for enrichment or Core Needs.

Here is an excellent example of using scatters in a pattern to help SDiT Willow feel better about escalators. By using scatters in a pattern, Willow can look at the elevator, then back at Lily, and then receive a scatter. This technique is similar to Leslie McDevitt's LATTE (Look at That, Then Enrichment) approach. Incorporating pattern training like this can help to associate the "scary" escalator with the familiar and comforting scatters, ultimately making your dog feel more at ease.

I'm pleased to report that Spring's alarm alert is progressing well. However, she seems to be expressing some frustration with vocalizations, indicating that I need to improve how I transfer cues to her. I aim to give her the support she needs to better understand how to receive the reward.

Melanie had Ada for four months as a rescue from the Toronto Humane Society. Ada was a 1-year-old shepherd mix.
Melanie had some physical ailments and struggled with Ada outside. Ada would stalk, lunge, pull and bark at other dogs during their walks in the downtown Toronto core.
As she felt her safety was at risk, she contacted me for support.
The first thing we looked at was equipment. Itโs essential that everyone feels safe outside, including Melanie, Ada and Society. There were some adjustments to find that happy medium.
We then began teaching her Calmness, Focus, Patterns, and Loose Leash Walking Games.
Melanie had lots of tools in her toolbelt. She had pep in her step and felt confident taking Ada outside in the Corktown neighbourhood. Here is Ada calmly lying down, watching the world go by.
Let's chat if you'd like a calm and happy dog too! Click on the link below: https://www.imaginedogtraining.ca/products/courses/view/1151103

This is my first attempt with Spring to task train an alert response.
Her job will be to lick my nose area when she hears a phone alert sound.
The first step is to teach the behaviour.
The video I recorded is unedited and runs for about 5 minutes as I like to talk. ๐There are some mistakes, and you may notice Spring showing uncertainty by lowering her head and vocalizing out of frustration.
I'll need to clean up these issues in the next session to ensure smooth training loops.
Despite Spring's lower food drive and spatial sensitivity, I'm generally pleased with our progress in this first attempt
Willow on the High Park Train
Look at this sweet puppy. ๐
With my instruction and supportive guidance, Willow is a young labrador learning to be a Service Dog with Partners With Paws.
Yesterday Willow had the most fantastic experience on the train at High Park! Ended up having an impromptu teaching lesson, which looked like so much fun. Sometimes the best moments in life are the unexpected ones.
