On this special day, August 8—my birthday and the pinnacle of the Lion’s Gate portal, recognized as one of the most powerful days for manifesting—I am thrilled to share something close to my heart. Since 2015, we have devoted ourselves to rescuing animals, and this journey has been nothing short of magnificent, filled with love, challenges, and accomplishments.

Today, I am proud to introduce you to our rescue's latest mission, which is now official! We are excited to unveil our website, created with dedication by our Information Manager, Kathryn Griffiths, a steadfast member of our team since inception.

Our newish initiative, , is an inspiring fusion of animal rescue, artistic expression, and healing. With approximately 60 rescue animals currently residing on our farm—and many newcomers yet to be introduced—we strive to create a harmonious space where creativity and compassion intersect.

At , we leverage art education, art therapy, and the unique bond between humans and rescue animals to help individuals of all ages heal their inner shadows and reclaim their love for life.
Our approach is a symphony of passionate expression and community connection. Through art programs and personalized therapeutic experiences, both our rescued animals and participants undergo profound process.

We have hosted wonderful workshops with children, unveiling a vibrant tapestry of creativity and individuality. These sessions enrich their lives, enhancing social skills, conflict resolution, problem-solving abilities, and self-esteem while fostering joy and creativity.

Our adult workshops facilitate a journey of self-discovery, empowering participants to reconnect with their inner child and explore transformative aspects of themselves, ultimately embracing their divine potential and limitless possibilities.

Every interaction with the loving and sentient beings at our rescue nurtures compassion and empathy within us. The experience of reflecting on ourselves through the eyes of an animal is one of the most profound gifts we can offer ourselves and especially to our children.

The Story of Jim and Margaret 🐾❤️

Jim and Margaret were found abandoned in a cardboard box and thrown away like trash but rescued by a local shelter.

Despite a scar suggesting Margaret had been spayed, my instincts told me something was off even though 4 vets saw her and she had zero symptoms (v***a and ni***es normal, tummy not distended or full). After scheduling an ultrasound for May 1 when her dhpp booster was due, my suspicions grew when, at 3 AM before a volunteer trip to Cuba, Margaret woke me in a panic. I rushed her to the emergency vet, where she unexpectedly began giving birth to four healthy puppies on my lap. Luckily, we were in the emergency parking lot and she and the puppies were given optimum care at the facility.

While I was away, Margaret developed a severe infection, was not able to feed the babies properly. We transferred her and the pups to for specialized care as they have 24 hour staff on call. Luckily, the puppies grew stronger and are now getting adopted. However, Margaret still struggles with an infection and an abscess that requires ongoing treatment.

Jim and Margaret have become stars in our Art and Rescue Animal Program at the farm via a venture called Once fully vetted, they’ll be registered as therapy animals to help support more students.

Caring for Margaret and the puppies before entering Paws Above’s care exceeded $4,500, not including all the future costs of a spay and a dental surgery. If you’d like to support Margaret, we’d truly appreciate your help! Donations can be made at [email protected]

Sweet, energetic, and incredibly intelligent. 🐾

Meet Penny/ Female/ French Bulldog/ 3.5 years old/ Spayed

Penny is a slow burn of love. Penny can be a snuggly sweetheart who adores affection and belly rubs once she’s fully at ease. She will be apprehensive at first and needs to build trust with her handlers. With patience, you’ll discover her playful spirit!

Prepare for endless entertainment with her joyful flips and quirky antics, plus her adorable baby dragon she snuggles with at night! 🐉

Penny adores walks, hiking, and swimming. Penny is an excellent walker both on and off-leash, with solidly developing recall and a penchant for stopping to sniff around.

Penny is fantastic with dogs when out but can be protective at home so will need a single-dog household and is best without cats or kids. Penny does express herself with friendly grumbles and an alarm bark for door knocks, but she’s not overly vocal.

With guidance from Shaun at Dog Hero, who is fostering Penny, you’ll set Penny up for success and continue her development. A home familiar with French Bulldog needs and pet insurance is essential for her well-being. ❤️🏡

McFly is one smart cookie! He already knows a few commands and takes his treats gently. He is crate-trained. He is still learning leash manners, as he can pull, but would likely respond well to consistent positive reinforcement training. He sometimes barks when playing.

Initially, McFly was fearful but has improved with time and become less so. He showed some reactivity toward other dogs when they barked and lunged at him! He has done better around more neutral dogs. He can be a bit wary of strangers and new people. He would benefit from a home that would help build his confidence.
