At Balmy Beach Pet Hospital, our CFO Nelson takes quality inspections very seriously. He makes sure to personally check every nook and cranny to get rid of any paw-tential problems so that all the cats and dogs that visit us enjoy a comfurtable stay. 😺🐕🐾

Keep swiping to see more BTS shots from Nelson’s workday. Doesn’t Nelson deserve extra scritches for being such a good boi? 😻

In the picture, you can see Ruby with her chosen hooman! So aw-dorable, right? 😻

With the kind of response that we received from the community, we are wondering if you would like us to host more adopt-a-thons in the future. Please share your thoughts in the comments!

Don’t keep this to yourself, SHARE with other paw-rents! 👻

Planning to include woofs and purrs in your Halloween celebrations? Just make sure you only include them in the tricks and not the treats. A lot of treats enjoyed by humans are dangerous for dogs and cats, so we’ve got some tips to keep ‘em safe. 💀

🔴 NO CHOCOLATES - Keep chocolate away from pets, especially dark chocolate, which contains higher levels of theobromine and caffeine, ingredients that are toxic to dogs. 🍫

🔴 While considered healthy for hoomans, raisins are a big no-no for furries.

🔴 Read labels, and ensure anything containing the sugar substitute xylitol is left far out of paws’ reach. 🐾

🔴 No pumpkin spice latte for your little pup-kin! 🎃

🔴 Don’t leave candy wrappers lying around - those shiny, crinkly and potentially delicious-smelling things could tempt your pets, resulting in an emergency trip to the vet! 🍬

NGL we absolutely love meeting your little floofs, but we care more about them having a HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 😺🐶🎃

Tag us in your stories - we would love to look at your spook-tacular pets!

While there’s nothing we love more than seeing our feline friends and pooch pals in cute Howl-o-ween outfits - we have some tips for you to keep your pets safe this Halloween! 🎃

🔴Avoid dressing your paw-some buddy in a costume that’s too tight, especially around the neck as it could lead to overheating or respiratory distress. 🙀

🔴Make sure that the costume doesn’t have buttons or beads that your pup may be tempted to eat, which could be a choking hazard or cause a serious gastrointestinal obstruction. ⚠️

🔴If your pet doesn’t enjoy being in a costume and looks anxious or stressed, you could simply put on a bandanna or a bowtie or just let them be. 🐾

🔴Ensure that the costume doesn’t interfere with your pet’s vision, hearing, or breathing. 💀

🔴Don’t ever leave your pet alone in a costume as they could get stuck or hurt. 😿

Make sure you share this to keep everyone’s furry friends safe this Halloween. 👻

Two new wonderful staff members have joined the Balmy Beach Pet Hospital Team. We are so excited we can care for even MORE furry family members 🐾

A great big welcome to our fabulous new Veterinarian - Dr. Sayaka Yogo!

Dr. Yogo has become fast friends with so many of our fab feline patients from Toronto Cat Rescue and we all agree she is a purrfect addition to the team.

Dr. Yogo is a graduate from Mexico’s National University. She has always loved animals and knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian. After she graduated, she immigrated to Canada and has been working in the veterinary field since 2015. She has a special interest in veterinary nutrition and strongly believes this is key in maintaining a healthy pet. When Dr. Yogo isn’t working, she loves dancing ballet, training aerial silks, painting and passing time at home with her boyfriend, her cat and her dwarf bunny.

We also welcome Rahana, our new Veterinary Assistant. She is pursuing studies at the University of Ottawa towards becoming a veterinarian, (though she also has a passion for marine biology too!) Rahana’s animal love is across the spectrum. We only have her until school is back in session but we are delighted to have her onboard.

We invite all of our clients, old and new, to come by to say hello and introduce your pet to our expanding crew of animal health care advocates 💙

A great big thank you to Patti from IDEXX Laboratories for coming onsite for the amazing training today!

Balmy Beach Pet Hospital has added another cutting-edge IDEXX analyzer to our in-house diagnostics lab. Patti provided the health care team with an incredibly informative and insightful session on best practices and use of these high-tech instruments. Nelson listened in and was thoroughly impressed - though let’s be honest - he was most enraptured with the box the analyzer came in!

Blood work can be a critical tool to help our wonderful Dr. Singh understand what is going on with your pet. Not having a common language to speak with her patients, blood work can be a vital communicate tool to see what is happening on the inside. Having the lab in-house allows Dr. Singh to get results quicker so she can start her patient’s care and treatment plan that much sooner.

Ask us today how our amazing Dr. Singh can use the incredible technology of the IDEXX system to help your pet live their best life.

Busy schedules and nervous pets can sometimes make it difficult for us to transport our pets to the vet...

The smells and noises that are associated with a vet clinic, can make a nervous animal more afraid or anxious.  🙈

But with our house call service, we can offer you and your furry friend a comfortable alternative!

We can help alleviate the stress of coming to the vet and bring the vet to you! 🚑
