Daisy is a 4yr old shepherd that just had her spay day although she may have preferred a spa day. Why was she not fixed earlier? Not sure why. Perhaps her family may have not felt it was important? It is. But then they sent her to a shelter. Daisy came to us at the end of last year. We booked her spay but sadly she went into heat. As a result we had to wait 8-10 weeks. Thankfully today Daisy was spayed!! We are so happy this was done. Spaying and neutering is an important part of pet ownership. These procedures, which remove your pet's reproductive organs, can help prevent unplanned pregnancy and animal overpopulation. They also protect against medical issues such as uterine infections, breast tumors, and testicular cancer. Be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pet.

This puppy couldn’t stop giving kisses!

Ellie was just picked up today by her new mom and dad.
Ellie had her meet and greet last week and she had the opportunity to meet her now husky fur brother. We could tell their minds were made up upon the visit. I mean, just look at little Ellie.
Ellie arrived to us from Northen Manitoba with her sister Fiona. Both girls were so playful and fun. We are so happy to give them the lives they deserve.
Ellie gets to grow up with a like minded husky who can’t wait to play with his little sister.

His adopters were so happy to bring little Ellie home today. It looks like Ellie is happy as well.

Thank you to his foster Janelle for helping little Ellie over the past few weeks. As cute as puppies are we know they are a ton of work but so worth it.

Maisie, now Lexie, went to her forever home today!
Maisie arrived to us from Turkey mid December. We didn’t want to place her up for adoption until we got to know her better and until the holidays were over. We are so happy we waited.
We had a pre approved adopter that applied for a dog that they were close to getting. When we found out more of Maisie’s behaviour we knew Abigail and family would be fantastic. They had so much dog experience and Maisie was simply perfect.

Thank you to our serial foster Alex for caring so well for Maisie. We can tell she was so happy with you.

Happy GOTCHYA day Maisie!! We were so happy to get a final cuddle with you before you went home!

FOSTERING SAVES LIVES

Fostering animals is, simply put, saving lives. When you become a foster parent, you volunteer to keep a homeless pet in your home temporarily until they go to a forever home.

Fostering increases a dogs chance at getting adopted. Foster families are usually the first to find out about the pet’s personality. You may even be the first to teach your foster pet basic house manners, making them more appealing to potential adopters.

Your own pets will learn more social skills. The more animals your pets come in contact with, the better they are at dealing with stress and getting used to strangers. Your pet might even find a playmate in your foster pet.

Fostering is temporary. Knowing the foster animal will only be with you for a short time helping them on their journey.

Fostering keeps animals out of shelters. As wonderful as animal shelters are, they can be stressful from the lack of quiet, training, and exercise. And there’s nothing like the love and warmth of a family! Animals in foster care tend to be less stressed, better socialized, and have a lower chance of getting sick than animals in shelters.

Akira has arrived and she is as sweet as can be. She is a timid gal who is shy with people but LOVES to follow you if you have wet food.

Akira is a super sweet gal who needs patience and time.

She is going into foster and once we know her more she will be up for adoption.

Paulette is a 10.5 month old puppy that arrived from Mexico a few months ago. Le gusta el Taco Bell!

Despite being a puppy we have seen Paulette has some very specific needs. She is a super friendly, and playful girl who loves her people and dogs.

She needs somebody who can set puppy boundaries first and love later. Paulette would do best with a family with no young kids. although she is great with kids, she is happier being the center of attention.

A 6ft fenced in backyard is reccomended as she would make a great agility athlete. A quieter household and lots of love will help her settle in his new home.

Paulette is crate trained and does well in her crate.
Paulette is on the nervous side and needs a family who will be patient with her. She needs to know that she will be loved unconditionally. Once you gain her trust she is a super cuddler.

Paulette is 25lbs, UTD on vaccinations and microchipped.

Aspen will get right into your lap and give you slobbery kisses. Not kidding you. She is still young and smallish but she will be a medium dog who will always think she is a lap dog.
When Aspen is not trying to cuddle and kiss you she loves going for a walk outside. Playing in the snow has become one of her favourite activities.

Aspen arrived in care from Northen Ontario. She had been hit by a car and needed her front leg repaired.
Aspen is now healed up and is looking for her forever home.

Likes kids of all ages.

Look who went home!!
Travis is such a sweet meximutt who went to his forever family today. He is such a sweet boy who needed some structure. He was with our Director for a while so that he can gain confidence and be on a routine. He is now an amazing puppy! Travis’s people came to visit him and knew he was the one for them. Travis also felt it as he was so happy with them. We are so happy for Travis and his family. We couldn’t think of a better fit. Travis has a huge backyard with a ton of snow to play in.

Fosters needed!

These are just some of the Northern dogs that are needing help.

There are opportunities to help these dogs but we can only help them with fosters.
Fosters would need to be able to bring them to our vet (Etobicoke, Mississauga and Beaches). All food and supplies will be provided.

Look who just had surgery once again 😕.
They may look like the previous pics but I can assure you they are new ones.

We knew Aspen needed more surgery to fix her leg and remove the pins from the first surgery.

Poor Aspen still has puppy strangles. Although her face has cleared up there are marks on her groin area that aren’t looking great. The vet confirmed she needs another round of prednisone.

This girl just needs to catch a break. She is happy and she is healing.
Aspen will require some physiotherapy soon as she has not used her front leg in several weeks.
Some question wether this was worth it. The cost of surgeries, the pain and discomfort the dog is going through and the long term prognosis.

We feel that it is worth it. We thought of all this. This is all just a small snapshot of her journey. She will live a happy life once her leg heals.

Thank you to all who have supported her journey. She is an amazing pup that will be looking for her forever home soon.

Foster needed for a pregnant dog.

We are looking at pulling this young female from a Northern Reserve. She is likely pregnant.
We are looking at a foster who can foster Bear and keep her until her puppies are weaned. This will likely be a few months.
