⚠️"INDOOR" PETS CAN CONTRACT FLEAS, TOO! ⚠️ Beautiful Hekate is the 3rd indoor kitty cat to fall victim to a flea attack THIS WEEK! We are seeing flea outbreaks in apartment buildings and as a result of unprotected kitties living with canine siblings. We, as humans, can also carry fleas into our homes unknowingly. Talk to our team about how you can protect your indoor kitty from fleas!
Not many of our clients get to meet our clinic cat Bear because he's usually busy in our wardd making sure all of our patients feel welcome, safe and cozy. Thanks for all that you do, Bear!

PARASITE SEASON UPDATE: we diagnosed a 5 year old, strictly INDOOR kitty cat with ear mites today! Microscopic mites, fleas and other parasites have three purposes in life: find a "host", feed, and breed! These little buggers can hitch a ride into your home on your clothes, on your shoes and can even piggy back in on insects and other small animals like mice. Therefore, parasite prevention is equally as important for our home-body patients.
Just in case you were wondering why routine parasite prevention was so important... these microscopic ear mites are literally invisible to the naked eye, but can easily find cozy refuge in your pet's ears without you even knowing. They cause an unbearable itching sensation, breed like bunnies, and are incredibly contagious among unprotected animals. Good news is that they're really easy to prevent! Ask us how!
This is what love at first sight looks like! Beni and Dr. Darren are hitting it off and exchanging hair tips.
Our good buddy Oscar came by yesterday for his check up and brought along an unexpected buddy 🤢🕷. LUCKILY, Oscar recieves regular, monthly tick prevention and his "little hitch hiker" was SUPER DEAD ☠ when we found him and just caught in his fur. The tick we found on Oscar was a BROWN DOG TICK (go figure). This tick species can transmit canine ehrlichiosis to dogs, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever to humans. Thankfully, because of Oscar's monthly #SimparicaTrio, this tick didn't have the opportunity to spread his yucky tick germs!
In the past 48 hours we have had three canine patients test POSITIVE for the tick borne disease "ehrlichia" on their routine parasite screens. Ehrlichia is transmitted by the "brown dog tick" and can cause anemia and severe bleeding disorders in dogs. None of these patients' owners were aware of previous tick bite or attachment. These guys are sneaky. But, they're here and posing major health risks to our 4 legged friends. Ask us how we can help protect your pooch!
Dr. Deji loves stealing sweet, conure kisses from his buddy Mango! 🐦😘 Mango visits us every few weeks for regular beak and nail trims.
Will smile for chin scratchies! 🐶😺😻 @thorsybear
Despite his "nut allergy", Dr. Darren was super game to get up close and personal with 14 week old "Peanut" the French Bulldog!

Bamba is in good spirits after his surgery and took an opportunity to get some light (supervised) exercise! Did you know that cats often prefer either mouse toys OR bird-like toys based on their internal prey preference!? Which does your cat prefer!?
