Meet my new gf Lucy🥰
She's the biggest sweetest pup ever!! She loves to snuggle, she loves to leeeean, and she looooves to play🤸 but intros are a bit tough for her, especially (and paradoxically) with dogs - who she loves to bounce around with once she's gotten familiar.
Why is that!? Maybe she's a bit nervous? Maybe she's actually just SO stoked to meet that she makes a scene? Or maybe she's expressing some deep down genetically driven behaviour traits typical of a Livestock Guarding Dog!?
LGDs are often considered to be *primitive breeds* which means they've been around, doing what they do, since long before the majority of dog breeds you know even existed. That also means that their breed-typical behaviour traits are deeply rooted in their genetics 🧬
What does that mean for Lucy? It means that while she is absolutely adorable and sweet, she's genetically hardwired to be sensitive to novelty and changes in her environment, and responds in big, loud ways - great traits if your job is to spend your days chilling with sheep and scaring away coyotes and wolves🐺 Tough in a city environment though.
Fortunately, she's got a loving, patient, and dedicated family and has made some great improvements since landing there late last year ❤️
We're going to get there Lucy xo
