The 's market is another way of disrupting the Chain and creating a Food . Its also a place savvy can find the next big thing.

Most of us perceive Farmers markets to be just about local , but its not.
Its a hive of entrepreneurs looking to explode and scale.
They look like food artisans, but in reality they are next products to be on retail shelves.

A typical farmers market will be the first place a food entrepreneur will show their products.

While has put a temporary halt on most of them, the war on Covid is starting to be won and the Farmers market will return. If there is one in your area, the people there are the hard core , and they will be the ones who you want to bet on,

Why $1.01B Has Been Invested In Indoor Vertical Farming?
The diets are part of the answer as well as the increased number of people taking up a Vegan or a Vegetarian lifestyle.
The numbers are staggering.

Here are a few of the tags and the number of people following them:
- a 1,000,000 followers
- 320,000, followers

And there are many groups, here is a sample:
Plant Based & Vegan Recipes For Beginners- 174,000 members
Vegetarian & Vegan Questions and Answers and Support Group- 57,3000 members
What Broke Vegans Eat- 223,400 members
What Broke Vegans Eat, Wear and Use- 68,300 members
New Vegan Support-57,000 members
Plant Based & Vegan Recipes- 109,300 members
Positive Vegan Vibes- 13,800 members
Vegan recipes for beginners-36,900 members

While there are groups on LinkedIn, the numbers are not the same,
It makes sense as most LinkedIn groups are connected by business rather than personal choices.
In the qualitative survey I did on Facebook there were a few surprises.

Sprouts, Microgreens, and baby greens!
What the heck? Yup, there is real difference.

It's all about the taste and nutrition and a little about the food safety.
The difference really depends on who you are.

A cares because there is a significant taste, texture and visual difference.
A Mom cares because there is more nutrition packed in a smaller package, so a child will get more vitamins in their meal.
A frugal cares because yiu get more calories for less money with the greens.
A cares because they grow at different speeds and use different techniques.
A business person cares because of the price and profit difference.

It's worth taking 5 minutes to read and understand the difference.

Don't you love when someone else does all the work?
Here is a great list of articles and books on early stage investing.
In theory its all about how a VC invests.

Angel investors are similar and different to mini VCs.

VCs invest larger amounts in a round than the Angel investor.
The Angel investor invests earlier and has a bigger upside.
The Angel investor is investing someone else's money, an Angel is investing their own money.
The VC usually has little operating experience, the Angel has much more practical experience.
The VC expects needs to worry what other VCs think about, an Angel investor worries about their spouse.

I heard that Vinod Khosla once said that “it takes seven years and $30m to make a venture capitalist.” As a new analyst or associate at a VC firm, VC can be hard to grasp and it typically takes 6-18 months to calibrate to the realities and constraints of the venture capital model.

Systemic Racism is where the "System" is essentially racist.
And its not because it was designed to be racist, and its not because anyone running it it is racist.

It just does things that are racist.

The SAT/ACT system is one such system.

It essentially keeps people from lower incomes out of the better universities.
A better university gets a better degree, it gets you a better job, and it creates genrational wealth. Generational wealth takes families and communities out of poverty. It changes the game.

If you are poor, the chances of getting a high SAT/ACT score goes down.

Things are changing!
And we can thank Covid for it.

If you care about these things, this podcast is for you.

What Color is Your ?
I love a Salad full of color.

The easiest way to add color is the use of orange and red peppers. They are great, they can be used as strips or chopped into pieces, I prefer pieces because its easier and less sloppy to eat.

Another way to add color is to use pieces of fruit in your salad.
Yup, people will freak out, but once you do it, you will never go back.

Take an orange, a pear, an apple and and even a banana and cut them into small pieces.
If you not going to eat the salad right away, add some lemon juice into the mix to keep the fruit from turning brown.

Another easy source for color is a carrot. I use a scraper to add the carrot, again, just to make it easy to eat.

And don't forget adding pickles, and olives and other fun stuff.

What do you add to your salad to give it color?

More than a billion people across the globe are obese or overweight.
Surprisingly it is not simply a concern for developed countries.
A recent global analysis comparing agricultural production to suggested dietary intake, suggests that conventional agriculture currently overproduces grains, fats and sugar, while underproducing fruit, vegetables and sources of protein.

The report highlights the potential for urban agriculture to stop the impending disaster of a health crisis.
Indoor Vertical Farms and urban green growing spaces in the city focus on growing vegetables, fruits and herbs instead of grains, sugars and fats.

Local Grown Salads specializes in growing and packaging herbs, small vegetables and leafy green salads to ensure that the community's dietary requirements are fulfilled and remains healthy!
We are excited about our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal ( ) 3 targets good health and well-being.

How does irrigation work?
Irrigation systems are a necessary component of indoor farming because they keep plants hydrated
Irrigation systems use specialized methods of supplying water to plants.
It is highly efficient and reduces water waste by minimizing evaporation and reducing runoff.

Irrigation in Indoor Vertical Farming is localized with water distributed to each plant within the system.

There are four ways in which water is distributed set up; hydroponics, aeroponics, aquaponics, and fertigation.

Typically irrigation is delivered on the surface under low pressure (such as with drip irrigation) and the water is absorbed by the substrate which reaches the roots of the plants, allowing a timely distribution of water/
The Local Grown Salads irrigation system delivers water to the soil substrate where the plant roots can access it.

The first three methods involve soil-less growth.
Hydroponics involves growing plants in a nutrient-rich solution.
Aeroponics involves growing plants in an airless environment.
Aquaponics is a method of plant growth that combines hydroponics and aquaculture.
Fertigation is a soil based watering system that uses high levels of Dissolved Oxygen, nutrition, and water.

This series is about eating healthy, but why should you care about eating healthy?
It's simple:
- Healthy eating provides your body with energy to accomplish stuff.
- It provides you with nutrients to grow, develop, and repair.
- It helps your body to fight pathogens.

Healthy food comes from which contains healthy chemicals we call "vitamins" that we all need..
- Vitamin A which keeps the eyes and skin healthy,
- Vitamin C helps heal cuts and keep teeth healthy.

But, the there is a challenge, field crops us chemicals we don't need called "insecticides", "herbicides", and "fungicides".
Although these chemicals target specific needs, there is a possibility for human exposure.
And that is very unhealthy.

Another chemical used are nutrients, these are used by the plants to grow.

So basically, there are three types of chemicals in agriculture.
Healthy chemicals - vitamins
Nasty chemicals - Pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides.
Useful chemicals - the nutrients

Indoor Vertical Growing doesn't use any bad chemicals in the growing process.

Small bugs and insects that feed, breed and live on produce.
These insects quickly rot, damage and add bacteria to fruit, vegetables and field grown produce.
The insects rapidly reproduce is openly exposed in fields, gardens and farms.
Bacteria forms on the food and then breaks it down quickly.
Produce growers (conventional and ) spray their produce with chemicals, and other critter killers.
Sometimes these pesticides make it into the food and sometimes they remain on the service.
In both cases, they allow for the consumption of chemicals when eaten.

With Indoor Vertical Farming, there is no chemicals used and almost a 0% chance of bugs and critters reaching the produce.
This produce is grown fully indoors, and grown upwards.
Indoor Vertical Farming is actually a more sustainable and safer way to grow food.
· ·
This article is a great read on the pesticides and critters that occur when growing produce in fields. It only puts a brighter light on the advantages of indoor vertical farming.
