Casa de Barks is open again for VIP boarding and board and trains!

VIP boarding dogs must be daycare approved.

Board and train is available for approved daycare dogs and puppies.

Open until Feb 17 and then March 1 onward.

Includes day school, daily training, socialization and lots of exercise! Great for a jump start on manners, social skills or puppy raising.

Your dogs will stay in our home and be one of our pack! Dogs must be used to cats to qualify for boarding (board and train may be an option!) and we do have a size limit - they have to fit in the car 😂

Puppy Smart Start
Includes puppy pre-school and kindergarten
8 week session focused on socialization and essential puppy training and problem solving.
Start any Saturday! No waiting for a new session to start.
For puppies 9-16 weeks
Full sanitized so safe to start while they're undergoing their vaccination schedule.

Team Builders: Life Skills and Manners
This is our basic obedience class for friendly dogs who are 16+ weeks that need to brush up on their manners, focus, and impulse control.
Includes an online class, 5 in-person indoor classes and 2 in-person outdoor level 2 classes.
Start any week! Classes run Thursday at 5:45
$279.99 plus tax

Super Sniffers Intro to Scent Work
Put your dogs sniffer to good use! Scent work is a great calming and tiring brain activity for high energy dogs.
Intro runs for 4 weeks
Next session starts Jan 14 at 5:30

No pre-requisites
Once your finished, move on to advanced Super Sniffers for more fun!

Agility Fun and Foundations
Running most Saturdays at either Barks and Rec or Bluebird Arena in Fruitvale
Classes are drop in and are $35-$45 depending on location.
Dogs must have completed Team Builders or an equivalent with another training school

Intro to Disc Dog
Curious about dog disc? Have a dog with lots of energy who loves chasing things? Intro disc is running once in January and February. January 11 and Feb 1 at 2:30pm in Fruitvale
No previous training or disc experience is required.

New for 2025
Dynamic Dog Sports Class
This is our dog sports foundations cross training class. If you're interested or working on dog sports this is a great fun class. It includes a bit of everything to help you and your dog be a successful sports team in whatever game you choose.
This class is drop in, running Fridays at 5:30.
To attend dogs must have completed Team Builders or an equivalent class with another training school and have instructor permission. Please email or message to learn if this class is right for you!

Don't forget we also have group and private coaching programs if you need help and support with behaviour issues.

Potentially harmful plants to cats

The holidays bring festive decor, including beautiful plants, but many of these can pose serious risks to our feline friends. Here’s a guide to the dangers of popular holiday plants and how to keep your cat safe.

⚠️ Highly Toxic Plants to Avoid

Holly: Both the leaves and berries can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy.

Mistletoe: Can lead to severe gastrointestinal upset, difficulty breathing, and even seizures in severe cases.

Yew: Extremely poisonous, yew can cause sudden death due to its toxic alkaloids.

Amaryllis: All parts are toxic, especially the bulb, causing vomiting, drooling, and tremors.

Christmas Rose (Helleborus niger): Contains toxins that can cause abdominal pain, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and depression.

Lilies: Even small amounts of lily ingestion can cause kidney failure in cats, making them among the most dangerous plants for cats year-round.

⚠️ Plants with Mild Toxicity

Poinsettias: While not as toxic as once believed, the sap can irritate your cat’s mouth and stomach, leading to drooling and mild vomiting.

Christmas Cactus: Generally non-toxic, but ingestion may cause mild stomach upset in some cats.

🎄 Safety Tips

1. Keep plants out of reach: Cats are curious climbers, so ensure toxic plants are placed where they can’t access them.

2. Opt for faux plants: Artificial decorations can provide the same festive cheer without the risk.

3. Know the signs of poisoning: Look for drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or seizures. If you suspect poisoning, contact your vet or an emergency pet poison helpline immediately.
