This is a before and after shot of one of our EAL program horses Coby. In this post I share how I used an environmental probiotic spray to speed his healing.
this IS an off label use but in the blog post you'll read how I first tried it on myself. Keep in mind I was an ER nurse so I have that background of understand the alternative treatment and why I went this routhe instead. You'll be surprised!

HERE’S WHAT I FEED DAILY

Horse people are a funny bunch… for us there’s nothing more exciting than going into someone’s feed room! Yes I AM a horse geek!! 🤣🐴

To give you some context this info comes from the bottom of my blog post "WHICH ENERGY SOURCES ARE BEST FOR YOUR HORSES?" ➜ www.littleoasisequinestore.ca/blog/understanding-nsc-energy-sources-for-horses there you'll find links to all these products in my shop

{This is my base ration - it changes depending on the season and on the health of the horse)
➜ 2 tbsp salt
➜ 4 tbsp magnesium oxide (*dose determined by hay analysis results)
➜ Custom mineral mix (determined from *hay analysis)
➜3 scoops 🇨🇦 made Equine Choice Prebiotic + Probiotic
➜ 1 cup CoolStance Copra
➜ 2 tbsp Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) (dose determine by condition of the horse)
➜ 2 scoops Stance Equitec Turmericle
➜ 1 scoop 🇨🇦 made Vitamin E pellets - this is standard in winter when there is no access to fresh forage (read this blog post for more about Vitamin E for horses).
➜ 2 pumps 🇨🇦 made Flax oil –Flax oil MAY be reduced seasonally if horses have access to fresh grass (fresh grass is full of omega 3’s!)
➜ Pre-soaked timothy/alfalfa hay cubes (ideally organic if possible).

⭐⭐ I also have my hay analysis done by Nutrilytical and based on those results — a custom mineral mix based on hay analysis (go to the blog post for that link)

I'm beyond thrilled to see all our hard work paying off with our new horse, Xenia.

When she came to me in this spring, she was suffering from full founder and was in significant pain, so she's been on a strict rehab program ever since. Her physical condition was really challenged, but we took things very slowly. (You can see how cresty her mane is in the photo where she's wearing the blanket - you can see from her facial expression she wasn't very comfortable in her body either - of course we helped her with that) I'll be sharing more details about her journey in a blog over the next few months. With fall now upon us, Xenia is finally ready for the deworming protocol. She was too fragile before, but now is the perfect time to take her recovery to the next level. I'm also hoping we'll get to see Laura Taylor - - in 2025 to continue supporting her progress!

In my view, preparing for the Deworming Protocol I do once a year for all my horses - means ensuring Xenia's gut is strong.

Xenia been on both GastroBuf and Equishure to help with her recovery, and now she'll move to maintenance with the daily Equine Choice Pre+Probiotic granular supplement. She's now out on the track with the rest of the herd and is firmly under saddle — thanks to Shea at Horsemanship for the expert help! Xenia has also been a stellar addition to our - Equine Assisted Learning Program and is well loved by everyone who's had the chance to work with her.
