This backpack y’all! Pattern from and for a first time making it, I’m a very happy maker. It’ll go to is home next week, but my best friend and her husband were kind enough to let me use their yard and his hobby to best highlight mine! A project this size is only going to be done by custom order, this reflects over 50 hours of careful work.

Back on March 16th I shared a photo of paper bits laid out on leather. A little over a month later, and 42 hours of hands on work, and it’s done!

The briefcase has an internal divider and is designed to hold a laptop and 17” file folders. It’s rugged and ready to take whatever is thrown at it.

I appreciate the client’s faith, and patience, while I tackle this massive project. Imaged below on a chair for scale!

There are a few ways to hand sew projects, but my preference is to pre-punch all the holes, then sew!

Depending on the shape and space, my chisels can do up to six holes at a time. Often I need to work with the smaller two prong or single to get the correct curvature. This process takes a lot of time but goes a long way into making each piece special.

The photo below is part of the briefcase I’m making as a custom request, and like all my bags, it’s 100% hand sewn.

So when I tell you I’ve spent a lot of time with your project, I’m not exaggerating!

🎉🎉🎉🎉Accomplishment alert🎉🎉🎉🎉

I take on repairs on a conditional basis. This bag belongs to a friend who understands my limitations, but the straps on this classic adventure pack were past the point of being useful.

So off to the desk to be stared at, talked about, and prototyped for months! Props to my Research and Development department (Jeff) for hanging in there while I went round and round.

End result? Secure and comfortable straps that at a glance don’t stand out as a repair. For me, that’s the best I could ask for with a repair like this.

Also modelling thanks to Jeff, backpacks just look better being worn 😘.

Delivered this custom made guitar strap today! Crazy horse leather (just a name, it’s made from 🐮) and lined with a complimentary brown suede, this should be useful and comfortable for the musician for years to come!

March custom orders are about 75% filled, so still some time so send project ideas through to see what we can get made!

Rocket and I are exhausted, but today I delivered the final order for 2024!!

I cannot thank everyone enough for their ongoing support whether it’s purchases, encouragement or cool ideas of things to make! It’s made this year unbelievably fulfilling and I am forever grateful.

Now to make a whole bunch of Christmas presents for my own family, a little last minute, but who’s counting 🎅 🎄 🎁
