Definition of Irony
Hestaband wins Export Achievement Award.
Canada Post goes on strike.

Earlier this morning, Canada Post Corporation announced that it 55 000 members went on strike. They stated that packages already shipped within the network are secure and will be delivered as soon as possible although there will be some delays.

What does this mean for our tapers? Will you be able to order Hestaband k-tapes?
Well, if you know me well enough... when one door closes, I find 3 more to open!

Currently, I am negotiating faster shipping times and discounted rates with Eshipper, UPS and Purolator! Packages will be sent courier and arrive sooner than they previously have with Canada Post.

Stay tuned for updates as I finalize these contracts for you. 😀

Oh and before I forget to tell you... due to the events of this week, the Anniversary sale will be extended!

Fun fact- I originally met the team from Omega Alpha - Equine in Dubai. It was 2006 and somewhere I have superb videos of us going across the desert in a jeep!

How can I begin to say, "Thank you"?

Four years ago, a wonderful team of therapists and tapers approached me, eager to explore the different features of my kinesiology tapes.

I was unprepared for the overwhelming excitement and enthusiasm that followed. In 2020, my initial tape testing program sent out 70 sample packages to therapists across 10 countries in just 2.5 weeks.

Now, Hestaband has been used in over 35 countries! This month, my company on the east coast of Canada was the recipient of the Export Achievement Award by the Chamber of Commerce. None of this would be possible without YOU!

The achievements we celebrate today are a direct result of your unwavering commitment to this industry. As tapers, our mission is to enhance the quality of life for the animals (and, more recently, the humans) we work with every day.

Thank you for creating the best Team in taping. Thank you for providing a safe space where new tapers can post questions online without the fear of being criticized.

Have you tried Hestaband Lymph yet?

Helpful Hint!

Tape proximal to distal to increase in circulation in the area above the affected site. (Have your first strip of tape placed closest to the heart!) This will encourage the edema to evacuate up and out of the limb.

This tape has a lot of elasticity but be careful not to overstretch the tape when you apply it. The special composition of these fibers plus the strong adhesive of Lymph is necessary to accommodate for the fluid volume change in the leg as the swelling decreases. The tape needs to stretch and recoil with the changing shape of the limb.

Sometimes, the tape works so fast in evacuating fluid that it literally 'pops' off! The limb will be substantially smaller in diameter.

Bonus- It is so easy to apply! No more time consuming and complicated fan tapings!

New Research Shows Horses Have 'Super Intelligence:'

Horses are far more intelligent than most people realize, with cognitive abilities that place them among the smartest animals.

They have demonstrated skills in problem-solving, emotional intelligence, memory, and learning that rival those of many other species. For example, horses are known for their cleverness in opening stable doors or untying knots, showcasing their capacity for strategic thinking.

Emotionally, they form deep, empathetic bonds with humans and can sense feelings like pride or shame, often mirroring their human companions' emotions.

Their impressive cognitive skills also allow them to recognize symbols, communicate preferences, and adapt to complex situations, such as responding to commands in therapeutic environments.

One study even revealed that horses can adjust their communication based on whether humans are aware of hidden food, increasing visual and tactile signals like looking or nudging when their caretakers were unaware.

This ability to understand and respond to the knowledge state of others—previously thought to be unique to primates—illustrates the sophistication of horse cognition. Horses actively attempt to communicate with humans in much the same way they would with their herd members, making horse-human communication a true two-way street.

While horses may not match the intellectual capabilities of elephants, they are often considered more intelligent than dogs or cats in some areas, excelling in equine-assisted therapies where their sensitivity to human emotions makes them invaluable in psychological treatments.

Hestaband won the Export Achievement Award from the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce. It was presented by Invest Nova Scotia.
