There are plenty of human foods that are toxic to our pets, some more common that others but here are a few to be aware of,
Chocolate
Caffeine
Citrus (stems, leaves, peels, and fruit)
Grapes and rasins
Macadamia nuts
Milk and dairy
Onions, garlic and chives
Bread dough
Coconut
Xylitol (artificial sweetener found in gum, candy and some baked goods)
Avocado

Meet Storm,
Storm came to us on November 13 with significant injuries to his left front shoulder/leg. After being missing from his home for 7 days, he found his way back and was in pretty rough shape.
The decision to amputate his leg was made, he stayed in the clinic for 2 nights on fluids and antibiotics before we could go ahead with the surgery. Dr. Ripley performed the amputation and it went just as planned, he even got to go home that evening!
Storm has now been recovering at home for just over 3 weeks and is adjusting well to his new 3 legged life. He was in the other day for a check up and suture removal and everything is looking great! I think its safe to say we are all happy about how recovery is going and that storm ended up making his way home.

And a HUGE shout out to Dr. Ripley and Dr. Hardes for their great work on Storms case!!!

A little update from Storms family:
"Storm is adjusting well and feeling comfortable with the other dogs now. He's eating good and jumping up on our bed like nothing. He finally got the hang of going down the stairs but he's still a little scared about getting off the bed or couch.
Thank you so much for all you have all done for him. I feel so blessed."

As the end of the month rolls around, statements will be coming due. Due to the Canada Post strike we would like to remind you that you can call and request your statement to be emailed to you, and to not mail in a cheque at this time!

To pay on time and avoid interest charges we alternatively accept:
- Credit card over the phone
- E-transfer ([email protected])
- In person payment (cash, cheque, credit card, debit)

Meet the team Tuesday!
Meet our tech assistant and newest member of the team, Amanda! She has recently been accepted into the Veterinary Technician program at Vermilion Lakeland College starting in Fall 2025, and is looking forward to expanding her knowledge & skills in the field.
After living in North Vancouver for the last 14 years, Amanda has moved back to St. Walburg with her daughter and is enjoying the country life again. Together, they have 3 mischievous cats named Beans, Owl, and Lynx.
Amanda has worked with a wide variety of farm animals at her last job at Maplewood Farm. Some of her favourite animals there included the Pygmy goats, Krokur the Icelandic horse, and Ringo the stubborn Sicilian miniature donkey. Amanda says the experience of working with animals is a positive challenge and rewarding career path.
Amanda enjoys helping her dad on their family ranch, playing music, and spending time with her daughter.
