since this contract began in 2020, we have seen over 400 cats (as of Oct 2021) come through our doors. Unfortunately, some of these animals are discarded like garbage and if discovered are up to us to care for. with assistance from our local animal rescue Portage Animal Welfare Society and out of town rescues like: K9 Advocates, Whitney's Wings and so many more we are able to care for these animal
s and get them into their forever homes. Some of these animals have expensive vet bills and may require additional help, this is where Hope for a New Beginning was created, to offset some of these costs so the animals get the help they need rather than be euthanized. In 2020, our Animal Control Officers discovered a small kitten that was unwell and in need of extra vet costs. Staff around the office pooled some funds and were able to get the kitten (later named Hope) the help she needed. She was fixed up and adopted out to a new home. As it was quickly learned, costs add up quick and a few staff cannot foot the bill all the time, so the Hope for a New Beginning Non-profit was created to help out in these situations down the road.
