Happy Hooligans K9 Training In person and online training focused on dog sports foundations and agility. Thank you for your interest in Hooligans and Hijinks.

I began working with horses 24 years ago and eventually switched to dogs about ten years ago. I began teaching agility classes in 2015 and have loved every second of it since. My favourite part of training people and dogs is seeing the little epiphanies on the way and capturing real joy in this sport we've all become addicted to. All of my training is games based and focused on safety and fun at every step.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my last post, I think a monthly workshop seems to be the winner. So! One final post to see what people want and I will release dates and times soon.

Because I'd love to be able to design this to be progressive, here are the options:

-$120 for one 3 hour session, or $300 if you sign up for three months in advance
or
-Hybrid class that is in-person and online: $150 for one session, $400 if you sign up for three in advance, with a private facebook group where you can post videos and training questions in between, and I will post extra exercises and progressions as well. If you only sign up for one month you will only have access to the online group for that month, those who pay for three months in advance will get permanent access to the group.

Available times in my schedule at the moment. Start dates will not be before late November:
-Nova Dogsport on Saturdays at 7:30pm
-Grand Desert (five minutes from Porters Lake), 9am

Hello friends! I am working on offering a Sports Puppy class in the next month or so and I wanted to get some feedback on what people would be interested in.

In the past, my sports puppy class has been a four-week session with the option to continue if there's enough interest. I've had great luck with it, with many of my groups continuing on until their dogs are competing. The struggle is that there is only so much I can cover in a one-hour class, and there are so many little things that I work on with young dogs, so I would like to see if people would be open to trying a different format. Also, due to time constraints, the only available opening at Nova is every other Saturday at 7:30pm, but I think that might actually be a good thing. Otherwise, I do have weekly availability in Grand Desert for 5:30pm on Wednesdays.

I would love it if anyone interested in taking a sports puppy class could comment below on what their ideal option would be. Even if more than one option appeals to you or you'd like to see something else, I'd love to get your feedback.

Option 1: a normal biweekly one-hour class with a four-week session spanning 8 weeks at Nova.

Option 2: a normal weekly one-hour class with a four-week session in Grand Desert.

Option 3: a biweekly one-hour class with a four-week session spanning 8 weeks, but there will be a facebook group where extra lessons will be posted in the off weeks, so you can work at your own pace and have reference videos and descriptions to work off of.

Option 4: a biweekly two-hour class with a four-week session spanning 8 weeks.

Option 5: A monthly workshop series, with each workshop lasting 3 hours. This I could also offer at my Grand Desert location on Sundays earlier in the day.

What a great day at our first funmatch at our Grand Desert location! Big thanks to Anne for the use of her facility. And a shoutout to all the participants, I saw so many lovely runs and happy puppies. Everyone pitched in to help keep things moving and the day ran super well. Thank you to everyone who came out and I can't wait for the next one!

We had a great time last weekend running at the CAANS trial. Other than the rough start due to the venue change, everyone pulled together and had a great time. While I was super happy with my own runs my absolutely favourite part of the day was seeing one of my long-time students finally step to the line. Helo started with my sports puppy program and has continued to impress everyone around him by being the absolute goodest beagle in the whole wide world. Massive congrats to Jen and Helo on their first Q!

If you're looking to get started in agility I have a foundation class start Oct 23 in Grand Desert. Check out my page for details!

Please note, due to low entries I will be combining all of the masters runs into one class, all of the starters and novice jumpers classes are a go!

This is the last Foundaiton class that I will offer for 2024, and it's quite likely that I won't have room for another until spring at the earliest. So if you've wanted to get into a foundation agility class with me, now's the time!

This foundational course is designed to introduce dogs and their handlers to the essential skills and techniques needed for agility training. Participants will learn the building blocks of agility while focusing on fostering teamwork, communication, and coordination between the dog and handler. We will incorporate fun and motivating games to establish a solid foundation for your agility journey together. Dogs must be at least six months old, and it is recommended that they have completed a basic life skills class prior to enrolling.

The last two runs of the day will have weaves in them as well, so lots of chances to get some training in a safe, fenced ring!
