We have had a lot of questions last week about what will happen to pet records after we close our doors. Prior to August 30th, you can give us a call at 780-523-3826 and we will be happy to forward your pet/livestock records to yourself or a clinic of your choosing.

Dear clients,

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the closure of High Prairie Veterinary Services, with our final day of in-house operation being July 28th, 2023. We understand that our closure will present challenges to our clients, but we will be here to help during this transition.

The High Prairie Team would like to extend a huge "Thank You" to all our clients and their pets that we have had the pleasure to help through the years. We will miss you all dearly and thank you for trusting us with your pet's care.

The clinic has been experiencing a higher than normal call volume as of late, so we'd like to remind clients that you can also place food and supply orders, request prescription refills, dewormer, large animal pharmaceuticals/vaccines, and request appointments via our main webpage:

www.highprairievet.com

All requests made through our website are processed in the order they arrive. Please be aware that it may take 1-2 days to process larger orders. Prescriptions, parasiticides and large animal vaccines/pharmaceuticals require a minimum of 24 hours notice to process.

Just a reminder that today is the last day to pick up food and supplies for your pet before the long weekend. For anyone who has been evacuated due to the wildfires, we still have free food available for your cats and dogs if you need it. Be sure to bring your evacuee registration card with you. Both dry and canned wet food available.

Our partners at Hills Pet Nutrition and Purina Pet Foods have both stepped up to provide free pet food (canned or wet) for anyone who has been affected by or evacuated due to the wildfires (Evacuation registration card required). The High Prairie Veterinary clinic along with our partners at Hills Pet Nutrition Canada are providing pet food support to anyone displaced by the fires. Hills is offering to supply general pet diets as well as specialty diets for both cat and dog owners in need.

Big Lakes County is building an emergency contact list for producers in the area who are facing threat of evacuation.

The High Prairie Veterinary clinic had to say farewell to a very important member of our team today as she crossed the rainbow bridge. Tsunami has been a resident of the clinic since she was a kitten and was always doing her best to greet clients, patients and patrol for trouble. An important cuddle bug for the staff and a great source of emotional support, she was greatly loved by all of us during her 16+ years of life.

We kindly ask for your understanding towards our staff during this time as they grieve her loss.

Until we meet again one day sweet Tsunami ... we love you❤

A big hearty welcome to Dr. Huber who has joined the High Prairie Veterinary team. With over 12 years of mixed animal experience, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge in both small and large animal medicine. She is open for small animal appointments and surgeries. However, she will be acting in an advisory capacity only with large animal cases due to back issues.

With the addition of Dr. Huber to our team, our clinic will be providing spay and neuter services Monday to Friday, and clinic hours on Friday will return to 8:30am - 5:00pm.
