Kenji update:
We have had a lot of questions being asked about Kenji and when he will be going up for adoption.
Kenji went to the vet a couple of weeks ago to be neutered. He had his pre-surgical bloodwork done and it revealed some concerning levels based around liver issues. Because some levels were extremely high, he could not be neutered safely.
They suspected issues with liver shunts but after some testing, that has been ruled out.
The next step is to do an ultrasound on his liver to see if that reveals any issues. He is scheduled to have that next Wednesday.
We are hoping that it will show what the issue is. If not, we will be running more tests looking for what is causing his numbers to be so high.
Kenji cannot be safely neutered or be adopted out until we figure out what is going on with him.
Our main focus at this time is to figure out what is going on with him.
He is not showing any symptoms and is still full of energy, playful and acting like your typical puppy.

Wee Ones is in need of some help.
Vet bills are piling up.
We have been hit with a few expensive surgeries and emergency visits. As fast as we have fundraisers, the money pays down the bill and another surgery needs to happen.
We currently have a 50/50 fundraiser posted but it’s not doing so well.
We are looking for some help. I wish I could wave a magic wand and pay off our debt but unfortunately that is not reality.

If we can’t get our bill paid, then we will have to shut down for new intakes.
Every rescue is feeling the pinch right now.
We understand that times are hard but even a couple of dollars would go a long way.
We have a couple dogs that need surgery soon and one that has to visit the Cardiologist. That is over $4500, which we do not have.

Wee Ones is looking to develop a Fundraising Team.
Looking for 3-4 people to join the team.
Wee Ones Dog Rescue is a not for profit organization that relies solely on fundraising to keep us up and running.
Some months we spend $3000-$7000 per month on vet bills and that doesn’t include other expenses that arise at any given time, including food and other supplies.
This is a huge responsibility and a lot for one person to take on.
The team will work directly with the president, vice president and the bookkeeeper to come up with ideas and execute those ideas.

Wee Ones would like to share that Lily has been officially adopted.
Lily came into care a couple of months ago and she started tugging on her foster dad’s heart strings the second we snuck her into the house.
Lily bonded hard and fast with her foster family and her canine brothers and sisters.
Lily had a bit of a health scare a couple of weeks ago and she was unable to have her dental surgery or her spay done due to an underlying health issue.
Meanwhile she was wrapping her foster family around her adorable little paws and they couldn’t bare to let her go, despite her health concerns. So they made the decision to make her a permanent family member.
Congratulations Lily, Allan, Linda, Trigger and Daisy. We look forward to following you on your happily ever after journey.
Does anyone have an old working sewing machine they no longer want?
We are looking for a machine to make some things that the rescue can sell at fundraising events.

Wee Ones is looking for a volunteer to take on the Social Media Coordinator position.
This position would involve volunteering a couple hours twice a week.

We have a zoom meeting once every second Wednesday, which you would be required to attend.
Chongky has arrived.
He has been picked up by his foster.
Welcome to the Maritimes Chongky.
Tonight is an exciting night for Chongky. He is almost home.
The Texas transport should be arriving in NB in the next hour or so.
Chongky will be sleeping in a comfy bed tonight.
Chongky is a Chinese Chongqing, who is 4 years old.
Chongky recently lost his mom, who was a huge dog lover and well know in the rescue business in Texas.
We will give Chongky time to decompress and then he will be vetted.

Bella came into care and had a lot of issues to overcome when it came to trusting her humans, especially men.
Her fosters worked hard and let her move at her own pace. She still has a way to go but despite her issues, her family fell head over heels in love with her.

Wee Ones has the best news ever to share.
Paprika has been officially adopted.
Paprika has had more than his share of health issues since coming into care. He started off his journey with Kennel Cough, then moved on to being in Kidney Failure. Next he started having small seizures. Throughout his health issues, he has had one constant in his life, the love of his fosters.
Paprika hit the jackpot. His family treated him like royalty. Paprika’s personality started to merge quickly. He is just the right amount of grumpy old man crossed with affectionate cuddler.
Despite his continuing health battles, his family seen beyond that as was able to see that he was the perfect addition to their family.
Congratulations Paprika, Sara, Jozsef and family.
We can’t wait to follow your journey.
