We’re looking for some help this Sunday with transporting dogs!

We have 2 adults dogs with their babies needing a ride from Red Deer to the shelter (Crossfield) on Sunday. Pick up in red deer would be approx 3pm. Two large kennels need to fit inside the vehicle.

One dog brought to a meeting point in Edmonton for Sunday morning scheduled to meet around 9am.

Meet Poker - 3 Days into Foster!

Today marks day 3 in my temporary foster home, and I’m gaining more confidence every day! I’m really starting to enjoy playing in the yard and getting into all my toys. I do like to chew, but I’m good at keeping myself busy as long as I have something to chew on, like my toys.

Guess what? I even put myself to bed in my crate now! I’m not fully trusted to be left out of the crate without supervision yet—I’m pretty curious and like to explore—but I’m quick to refocus as soon as you say my name. I’m also learning to come when called, and I now run out the door and back in without hesitation!

I’m getting more confident too—I even go on the couch for snuggles (I’m allowed here, if the other dogs let me, of course!). The chihuahuas here aren’t overly fond of me, but I leave them alone, and we coexist in peace.

✨ Now that I’m not the biggest scaredy-cat in the world, I’m ready to find a foster or adopter who can continue working with me. I’ll even get a fully customized training plan to help me be the best companion I can be!

I like to help with chores too—if you drop crumbs, have messy kids, or are a messy cook, no worries! I’m basically a vacuum when it comes to cleaning up, and I’m happy to pitch in. 😄

I get let outside regularly and haven’t had any accidents (except for one on my first day). My crate is always clean, and I’m a very tidy guy. Oh, and I’m extremely food motivated, so training is going great!

I’m well on my way to being an amazing addition to the right family. Can’t wait to meet you! ❤️

🐾 Meet Poker – The Snuggle Bandit in Training!

Breed: Shepherd Mix

Poker’s story started off a little dramatic—think Olympic-level sprinter, dodging humans like his life depended on it. Terrified of everyone, doors, and probably his own shadow. But guess what? Plot twist—turns out, he’s actually a total cuddle monster.

One of our team members took him home for a few days to show him the good life, and Poker quickly cracked the code: humans = belly rubs, toys, and snacks. Now, this boy is all about snuggles—especially at bedtime, where he’ll absolutely attempt to sneak under the covers and lick your face into submission.

Some fun facts about Poker:
• Loves his toys like they’re his long-lost siblings.
• Mastering “sit” (for treats, obviously).
• Still a little suspicious of hands above his head—like, “Is that a snack or am I in trouble?” Quickly reassured with love (or more snacks).
• Day 1: “What is a door?” Day 2: “Oh, I can go outside freely? Neat, I’ll take a lap.”
• Sleeps in his kennel at night—might whine for a minute because he’d rather spoon you, but gets over it quickly.
• Potty training report: One oopsie on day one, flawless record since.
• Coexisting with two cranky chihuahuas and a shepherd like a champ.

Poker’s Dream Home:
• Patient humans who understand that he’s still figuring life out.
• Kids are great if they’re cool with letting him approach on his terms.
• Bonus points if you enjoy floor-sitting, because Poker thinks humans are 80% less scary when they’re not giants.
• A secure yard would be awesome for his growing confidence.

Last nights UPDATE‼️ ❤️‍🩹

Late nights, long days, many miles, and countless vet visits… this is what it takes to ensure these dogs are fed, warm, and on their way to health. This is why we do it.

While our hearts are dedicated to this work, we need the support of our community to keep going. We ask for your patience as we work around the clock to provide care for our animals. Responding to messages, emails, and phone calls may take a bit longer, but rest assured, their physical care and safety are always our top priority.

‼️Please note we are currently FULL on surrender requests. During cold snaps, we need to ensure there’s room for emergencies like the one we experienced last night.

❤️‍🩹Health Updates on Our Rescued Dogs:
• Tank: Tank has been through a lot. He is on many pain meds and is being treated for sever frost bite . His skin is being closely monitored in case it requires surgical intervention. He’s also had an ear infection that’s being treated.
• Rosie and Squinty: Both of these sweet girls are receiving treatment for eye, ear, and skin infections. We’re hopeful they’ll be on the mend soon.

When Stella was first rescued, she had never known kindness. Picked up as a stray, she was completely feral—fearful of people and unsure of the world around her. But thanks to the love and patience of her foster home, Stella has transformed into a sweet, silly, and affectionate girl! 💕

Now approximately 1-2 years old, Stella has made incredible progress. She may still be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she warms up, she’s full of love. She adores other dogs 🐶 and would thrive in a home with a confident canine friend. She’s also great with cats! 🐱

This gorgeous girl, with her mostly white coat and striking black face patch, is fully vetted, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. She is house-trained, crate-trained, enjoys her toys 🎾, is food-motivated 🍖, and does well when left alone in her crate.

While he has a bit of separation anxiety when left alone, he finds comfort with other dogs around and enjoys having them as his companions during the day.
