Did You Know!

Unlike other lesson facilities in the area we are lucky to have a indoor arena at our farm! This Allows us to run lessons during the winter, It also allows us to have more flexibility to offer lessons later in the evening during the week as were not relying on sunlight!

What riders need:

- An ASTM-SEI certified helmet. Helmets are available to buy at Equiland in Paquetville or at Greenhawk in Moncton. They are also available to order online at Greenhawk.com. We do have a limited amount of helmets to borrow at the farm but we always recommend riders have their own. ***Please note that we do not accept Decathlon riding helmets at our facility due to them being tested by European standards and not North American standards.

- A boot with a one inch heel. This can be an actual riding boot which is available at Greenhawk, a cowboy boot which can be purchased at Equiland, Cain Limited in Dieppe or Ariat.com, or just a regular winter/rain boot with a good one inch heel on it. We do have limited sizing of boots available to borrow at the barn however please note that none of our boots are winter riding boots so if this is the route you choose to go, please make sure you double up on socks because it can get pretty chilly!

- Especially for winter, we highly recommend gloves over mittens to allow our riders to be able to hold their brushes while preparing their horses and hold their reins while riding. We recommend gloves with grips on them (think the ones with sticky snowflakes in the palms) over simple knit gloves, simply because they slide less, or actual riding gloves which can be found at Greenhawk or Equiland.

- Warm clothes! Our barn is heated but our riding arena is not. Snow pants are perfectly acceptable to ride in although some may find them a little bulky. Layers are your friends and fuzzy pyjama pants under a stretchy pair of jeans are a bit of a classic winter outfit around the farm. Tuques are also highly recommended to keep ears warm, just make sure there is no pom-pom or embellishments that stand out on them so they fit safely under helmets.

Good morning all!

We are very sad to announce that we unfortunately have to cancel our pony rides with Santa event for today due to the heavy winds for safety reasons. While our horses are very safe to ride, heavy wind days mean that horses are a little more attentive to sounds to keep themselves safe. Mix heavy wind sounds with an echo prone arena (all the better to hear your instructor but this also drastically amplifies the wind) and a crowd of excited tiny humans, this is a stressful situation for our horses that we would rather not put them through if it can be avoided.

We are looking into pushing back to tomorrow or next Saturday as we do not want to cancel entirely, however this will depend on the availability of our wonderful helpers.

Thank you for your understanding.

- The Tetagouche River Ranch Team

Good morning everyone! We had an amazing time at the Downtown Bathurst Christmas Parade last night with Maverick, Thunder, Luna, Zoey, Hawk and Zoodles! Huge thank you to the City of Bathurst for hosting such an awesome event for our community and allowing us to bring the horses out for another year. Another huge thank you to all of our students, their families and everyone else who helped us make the float happen successfully in so many different ways. And finally, thank you to the Tim Hortons Drive Thru at the gas station by the waterfront promenade for allowing us to bring our horses through to get them timbits amongst other goodies! We hope you all had as good a time as we did. 😊

Wow! What an amazing turnout for yesterday’s show!

While the weather was definitely colder than expected, we had a total of 21 riders from all over the area! It was a great opportunity for our show team to mingle with other barns and compete with their riders but also allowed them to see and experience what true sportsmanship is! We’re excited to hit the road with this team next year and do some cross training with a few of the farms that attended our show.

We also want to extend a huge thank you to those who helped with the bake sale and set up/break down of equipment, thank you to came to watch and participate, good job to all who participated and congratulations to all who placed.

We’re looking forward to hosting this show again next year! :)

Good evening everyone!

We wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone on the farm and how things are going, we know recently we have been a big topic in the Equestrian community and need to set the record straight on things, unfortunately there is a ongoing situation between ourselves and a ex employee as well as a lesson parent. Both are now at Middle River Equestirian, while we cannot can not go in to details on the situation due to a ongoing investigation, we will state that any rumours you hear in regards to neglect or SPCA seizure of the farm animals are false. Animal welfare agents did attend the farm at our request along with a vet and all horses were cleared of any concerns.

we know this will blow over in time however it is disheartening to hear that were being tarnished once again, as we still strive to be a huge part of this community and will continue to be a part of this community ongoing.

were excited to see everyone return for the fall semester
