Funky to Fabulous Mobile groomer servicing the Leask, Marcelin, Blaine lake and Hafford area Nor will I put myself at unnecessary risk by speeding to the next appointment.

The following policies apply to Funky to Fabulous mobile grooming service:

Mobile service: I will arrive as close to the scheduled appointment time as possible. However, I will never endanger the safety or well-being of anyone's pet by rushing through a groom. I will call your specified contact number to let you know of any change in arrival time. Emergencies: In the event of an emergency, I will

immediately seek veterinary attention for your pet (at your expense if its a health problem). All attempts will be made to contact you in the event of an emergency. Health: Your pet's safety and comfort is always my main concern. Please be sure to let me know of any allergies, sensitivities or pre-existing medical conditions so they can be avoided. Please also let me know of any prior issues your dog or you have had with previous groomers. I want you and your dog to have a good experience and not repeat any prior problems. Some pets are extremely sensitive to certain grooming procedures such as trimming nails or cleaning ears. It is not my intent to cause discomfort to your pet. Although these are routine procedures normally performed for the well-being of the pet, I will not continue with any grooming procedure that will cause pain or discomfort to the pet. Sometimes for the overly sensitive pet, these procedures are best left to the care of a veterinarian. I DO NOT administer tranquilizers or sedatives, this is best left to your veterinarian. Coat Condition: This business puts your pets health and comfort above all else. In the event that your pets coat is matted, the groomer may have to shave the matts out for a coat restart rather than perform a painful de-matting process. If your pet is extremely matted there is an increased risk of clipper burn or cuts to occur. All attempts will be made to prevent this, however in some severe matting conditions it is unavoidable. Matted pets take additional time to groom so there will be an additional fee added to your regular fee if your pets coat is severely matted. No Show Policy: As a courtesy to other clients who are waiting for an appointment, I require a minimum of 48 hours notice, for cancellations. Cancellations are to be made by phone call only. (306)466-7442. When a scheduled appointment is not kept resulting in a NO SHOW, or is a LATE CANCELLATION, a down payment will be requested for any further bookings. Should a cancelation call be provided by the client less than 48 hours prior, but more than 24 hours prior to the appointment a 50% fee (of the groom) will be charged to the next groom. or if it is a second offense, to the client will not be able to book another appointment.

As the cold weather slowly creeps its ugly head around the corner, i thought i should give a quick update about what i will have available for grooming options this winter. After trying so hard at keeping the truck going through the winter last year. I learned the hard way that its next to impossible to do in Saskatchewan unless your in the city, with some appointments being a 20-30 min drive apart, no matter how much i heated it while parked, pipes would freeze between stops.

So i decided this winter i will have 2 options for grooming, and unfortunately for now it will only include small and medium sized dogs until i get a proper setup in my house for the large ones.

I will offer:

Drop off- you drop your dog off at my farm (near Blaine lake)

In house- I groom your dog in your house (requires the use of your bathtub or sink if your dog is small enough)

These options will take effect as soon as the temperature starts to drop below 0. Sorry for any inconvenience, i hope you all have a great fall and i see you before the snow comes. Thanks again for all your support! I couldn't ask for better clients.

Beware of foxtails while out and about with your dogs! Foxtails have barbed razor-sharp needles that are dangerous to your dog. If you are exposed, thoroughly inspect the hot spots (ears, nose, eyes, underbelly, between toe pads).

- Foxtails can go up the nose and migrate to the brain.
- Embedded foxtails can cause pain and even death in extreme cases
- Pets with long fur and long ears are especially prone to getting foxtails
- Foxtails move in one direction. They dig in, and they do not come out on their own.
- Foxtails love paws and can easily embed between toes.
- Foxtails can dig into any part of the body, and they don't dissolve.
- Foxtails pieces can easily be inhaled & puncture a lung!

Quills are no joke and can kill if left untreated. You may think you have them all when you do it yourself but I have seen quills embedded in the roof of a dogs mouth or along their gums and teeth. Better to be safe than sorry.

Porcupines are out and about. They have become more active with this warmer weather. Dogs often try to make new friends with porcupines.

Quills are modified hairs and are covered in scales that act like a fishhook barb causing the quills to stick into tissue and want to migrate inward. The best way to remove the quills is to sedate your pet for their comfort and to allow the veterinary staff to be able to perform a full inspection, not leaving any quills behind.

With the barbs on the quills, they will continue to migrate inwards, through skin & muscle, and ultimately ending up in the internal organs. Since these quills are not sterile, they do carry bacteria with them causing severe infection and abscesses.

~Can cutting the quills make it easier to remove?
It is not recommended to cut the quills since they are hollow and will not simply deflate. They are more likely to splinter and become harder to remove, or have a sliver left behind in the tissues.

~Can owners remove quills themselves?
No, removing porcupine quills without sedation or anesthesia will result in an extremely painful procedure. Your pet may struggle causing more quills to break off or migrate further. Your dog may even lash out and bite a person due to the pain of the procedure. A veterinarian is able to give sedation, pain medications and antibiotics to your pet, as well as a Rabies vaccination.

~How soon should I get my pet to the vet for removal?
As soon as possible, as these quills can be broken off by your pet pawing or rubbing at them due to pain. It is recommended you bring your pet in as an emergency. Try to give your clinic a call to inform them of your travel and arrival time.

Our veterinarians are on call any time our offices are closed and are able to assist you with any type of emergency.

This is the bruising and pressure sores created by matting. I wanted to show people what a matted coat can do to a pet. Matt’s are painful and can cause all kinds of skin conditions and sores and even lead to permanent bald spots. Give me a call before it gets this bad, we can prevent this

“Why does my dog/cat still smell after I bath them at home?” ”why can’t I get them to smell the way you do?”

I get this question a lot. the answer is 2 things.

1. Your not using a quality product. When it comes to shampoos and conditioners. You get what you pay for: if your using a brand like hartz, or grocery store brand, it will likely take you an entire bottle to get the desired results. These are my recommendations for quality shampoos and conditioners.

2. your not getting them fully cleaned. When your pet is properly cleaned in the bath, they squeak. no joke, a clean pet is a squeaky pet!

Watch the video below with sound on full, this is what a clean pet should sound like. Thanks to Rye guy for the demonstration.

Most pet owners are aware of what these are. But after seeing this, some people need educating. These are Matt’s. They are not growths or extra tails, they are painful clumps of fur that PULL on your pets skin causing damage to the skin and coat leaving your pet in constant pain. If you see these on your pet, CALL me! I’m here to help! I will never judge, lecture or belittle someone for this, it’s a common thing since a lot of people don’t know how to fix or prevent it. I can teach you! I’m here to make your life with your fur babies more enjoyable.

Don’t forget fluffy!!!!

Your kitties require regular grooming to stay clean! The most common myth in cat grooming?

“Cats groom themselves”

If your ok living with a kitty that has 5 years of saliva build up on its coat that’s up to you. Personally I like my kitties clean, soft and silky.

Besides cats are vain and love looking good!! Give your cat a coat guests can envy!

If you have a doodle, do it right!! Just brushing a dogs back won’t rid them of Matt’s and prevent a coat restart. Pay attention to where to brush and do it DAILY. Doodles require the most maintenance of any dog breed. Beware of your time before you buy one.
