When I said “something exciting is right around the corner” I meant it literally🥳😄

Hello Edson, Hinton and everyone travelling down Highway 16! As we get close to finishing our renovations we are finally able to share the new location of the The Tack Trove! Once solely an online consignment store we are excited to announce our new store front location! If you are wondering why we tagged ? Well that is where you will find the new store! Right off Highway 16 in the Scarly Scoops lot. We will be right at the end, drive down past the ice cream parlor and the big yellow shop to find us at the end.
As we work to get everything ready to open our doors please give our Facebook and Instagram profile a like as we start posting updates, current vendors and what we have planned for our community.
True to its roots the online consignment tack will be a big part of our new format. Currently the website is under construction, we will have it back up and running soon. We will start taking consignment at the new location once we have a better idea of the opening date.
We look forward to meeting everyone and hope you are as excited as we are to open the doors to our Tack "Trove"-as defined by oxford languages, "a store of valuable or delightful things"🎠

A bittersweet day for Chris and Rohan as they pass the reins to Jaide, the new owner of The Tack Trove.
Back in June Jaide ventured to BC to meet with Chris to learn about the business she built with her partner Britt. As Chris embarked on her new adventure, Jaide was excited to take the reins and bring The Tack Trove to its new home in Central Alberta.
After many months of hard work the new bricks and mortar location is almost ready to open its doors, with the online platform reopening shortly after.
Stay tuned to see what she has in store....opening date is near!

As we enter fall, and soon winter, the unwanted horse ads start to appear.

“Beautiful pasture ornament available, very sweet and kind. Cannot be ridden. But only 6 years old so lots of life left!”
Or
“Retired senior horse. Very arthritic so only pasture sound. We love her but can’t justify keeping a horse we can’t ride. We also can’t keep weight on her and she costs too much to feed!”

Oh how our hearts break for these horses because we know there simply are not enough homes out there for horses that have health issues and are “less desirable” due to not being rideable. But even worse than losing their home is entering the slaughter pipeline where unspeakable horrors happen every day.

Instead of giving your senior horse away “free to a good home”, let yours be their last home and give them the Last Act of Kindness.
Instead of rehoming your unrideable horse whose very unrideability makes their very future uncertain, let yours be their last home and give them the Last Act of Kindness.

If you need financial assistance for the cost of humanely euthanizing your horse, please apply for our grant on our website: horseaid.ca

Please know, horses do not fear death, they fear suffering.

At the beginning of August we rented a mini hoe from Castle Rentals & Welding Supplies so we could put in a new waterline, thankful to have a boyfriend that is a talented heavy equipment operator who took charge on this project, and thank you mom and dad for getting everything organized and working your butts off so we could pull this off in a weekend😴
So excited to have another autowaterer in and a hydrant closer to the pastures, going to make this winter a whole lot easier!

On august 6th 2024, we laid Charlie to sleep. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing this boy knew how goofy and sweet he was, he never failed to put a smile on my face no matter the day I was having. I was lucky enough to have had him at home for the last 4 years of his life and that is something I will be forever grateful for, to be able to have made new memories with him every single day before the end. He was the best horse a girl could have asked for and he left the biggest hole in our hearts. Going to miss you forever big guy, thank you for everything❤️
Rest now in greener pastures

❤️this! So well said…”what can this horse teach me today”. 🐎🥰

A small stab in the heart is what you feel when you put up the day's riding list and you see riders sinking heavily in their shoulders when reading which horse they are assigned for the lesson. A small stab in the heart for that horse that for an hour will carry around a rider who has already decided that he does not like his horse. A small stab in the heart for the horse that did not choose the rider himself but still does his best, lesson after lesson.

Riding is a privilege and something you have chosen to do. If you chose to ride at a riding school, your instructor assumes that you actually want to learn how to ride. The instructor's highest wish is that you get good at it.

Often there is a plan and a thought as to why you are assigned to that exact horse. Before you mount up next time, ask yourself "what can this horse teach me today?" All horses have something to give, a feeling or a new tool in the box.

The art is actually in being able to get a lazy horse to move forward, to get an uncertain horse to gain confidence, a naughty horse to focus or a tense horse to be released. It takes work. If you think a horse is boring, it's more likely that you don't ride the horse as well as you think! It's not easy to be confronted with your own shortcomings, but it is in that very situation that you get the chance to truly grow as a rider.

The excuse that "it's not my kind of horse" is actually a really bad excuse. A good rider can ride any kind of horse. A good rider has trained many hours on different types of horses to become a good rider. A good rider can find and manage the gold nuggets in every horse.

If we absolutely want to ride, it is our duty to strive to do it as best as possible, even if it's only for fun. We owe it to every horse that carries us upon it's back.

Copied and shared with love for all of our horses, ponies and riders 🐎❤🐎

My heart goes out to everyone affected by the jasper wildfires, I wanted to post and let everyone know that we do have space to take a couple horses at the ranch and we have rounds and squares if anyone is in need, I also have two 2 horse trailers and trucks if anyone needs help transporting.
Having gone through a similar situation and having to get our horses out last summer I sympathize greatly and want to extend the kindness that so many of you showed us last year. We are located 40 minutes east of Hinton and please if anyone needs anything, don’t hesitate to reach out💗

Hoping for a rainy day similar to this one ⬇️ coming our way soon

I think the best part about the spring time is finally having enough growth in your fields to be able to let the horses out and watching them frolic in the fresh grass😄🌱
