Sienna just turned two years old and is looking for a home. She is probably the sweetest, gentlest and calmest Havanese I have owned...and I have owned a lot of Havanese!

She is also very sensitive which is why it will take a very special person to adopt her. She needs a 'mature' home. A home that is also calm and gentle. A home where she will have someone to shadow, snuggle with and keep company most of the day.

Sienna gets along very well with other dogs and loves to play with them...so another dog in the family would not be a problem Sienna was a wonderful, attentive mother to her puppies last summer.

Sienna's story: At 1 year old Sienna passed her eye exam with flying colors. But then, at some point in the last six months, Sienna began to develop cataracts, so she is no longer a good candidate for breeding and has been spayed.

I knew nothing about canine cataracts. I still feel like I know very little. But I do know there is no test to determine if a dog is prone to cataracts. I also have learned there are many causes. Sometimes a genetic issue. But also can be caused by trauma. Sienna has 11 siblings from two litters by the same parents. And because none of the other 11 have any eye issues, I am thinking hers were brought on by trauma.

Last Winter I had placed her with a professional handler in Canada. It a handler I have used before and was very impressed with. But Sienna was not happy. She started losing coat. A lot of coat! So I picked her up after 8 weeks and brought her home. Of course I feel so very guilty about this, but had no idea she would react this way.

My canine opthomology specialist tells me that Sienna can live a long life. She will adapt to her reduced vision and possible blindness. She can have surgery but the success rate is only 80%. I'm not sure that is good enough to put her thru it. The other caution is that the 20% that is not successful will possibly result in more surgeries. Sad for sure. But I'm looking on the bright side. She can still live a wonderful long life.

Anyway, if. you would like to learn more about Sienna, please drop me a note at [email protected]. Include your phone number so I can tell you more about this wonderful girl! Needless to say, I am looking for a very, very special home for her.

There are so many aspects to breeding dogs. Some are obvious....dog shows, vet visits, health testing, puppies, mentoring new families, staying in touch with families....

But one aspect that doesn't often get much attention is rehoming an older dog whose owner has run into hard times.
My contract states that if a family is no longer able to take care of their dog they must return it to me. This is so none of my puppy's end up in a puppy mill, a shelter or a terrible living situation.

The only exception is if they the owners find a home that meets with my blessing...a home that meets my criteria of a loving, healthy and stimulating environment.

So about Riley...

Riley turned 11 this week. That very same day her owner, Norm, contacted me because his health has taken a turn and he needed help with Riley. He is in the hospital which will likely be followed with a facility for physical therapy. So at 85, he can no longer take care of her. And there is no one else at home. Norm's son comes to visit and takes her out to potty but this is difficult for him as he has other committments.

I remembered Norm. He took over a commercial space that I had rented for years for my flower shop (this goes back a ways! LOL). Norm is a good man and a talented hair dresser who ran his own salon for a long time.

Anyway, of course I told him I would help.

As I said, Riley is 11. She will be current on her vaccines and assessed by my veterinarian. Norm tells me she is active, happy and loves go running with his son once a week. Your only cost will be to cover her vet visit, vaccine updates and any needs she has in this interim period. She is housebroken, a good traveller, and very intelligent. She likes to take walks but doesn't depend on them. I can also tell you that she has been well taken care of.

Havanese are healthy dogs that typically live 15-16 years. Many live to 19 or 20! Riley would be a great companion for an older couple or individual.

If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting Riley please drop me an email.... [email protected]. I am hoping to get her placed as soon as possible. Her life is a little upside down right now.

This is Porsche! He is 11 weeks old, full of puppy energy and loves people! He is out of our "sportscar" litter.

And he is looking for a home. He has had two vaccines, has been thoroughly checked out by my vet and has no issues.

He would be great in an active family and loves children.

His mom is our AKC champion, Sunshine, and his dad, Georgio, is an AKC Gold Champion!

Both parents have passed all their CHIC (health testing).

If you'd like to learn more about Porche, please send me a DM.
