🎉Happy New Year from Furball Force Animal Rescue Society! 🎉

As we welcome 2026, we want to pause and reflect on what 2025 made possible because of you.

2025 by the numbers:
158 dogs adopted
227 cats adopted
623 dog vaccinations
785 cat vaccinations

But the impact goes far beyond the numbers. In 2025, we welcomed animals into our care from out of province, out of country, and right here at home. We supported local surrenders, took in strays, accepted transfers from other shelters, and welcomed babies born in our care after taking in pregnant mamas who had nowhere else to go.

None of this happens in isolation. We are proud to work alongside other shelters and frontline rescuers who face the realities of animal welfare every single day, and who continue to show up with compassion, grit, and heart.

Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited and committed to:
Helping even more animals
Growing as an organization
Building stronger relationships with our partners and our community

✨ New Year. New Chances. New Homes Needed. ✨

As we step into a new year, two sweet 6-month-old female puppies are starting it without the stability they deserve. They were dumped, another heartbreaking reminder of a growing problem in our province, young dogs abandoned simply for becoming “too much” or “too big.” At just ~40 lbs, they’re still babies who should be learning what it means to feel safe and loved.

These girls are good with other dogs, absolutely love people, and are ready to thrive in a home with routine, patience, and kindness. What they need most right now is a foster home by January 6, a soft place to land while we work toward their forever futures.

Rescue can’t do this alone. It only works when our community bands together, when someone opens their door and says “I can help.” Fostering saves lives, and right now, it saves theirs.

We provide: food, vet care, supplies, and full support
You provide: a safe home, love, and a fresh start

Let’s make this New Year about compassion, responsibility, and second chances.

He’s an 11-month-old Pomeranian mix with a small body, fluffy looks, and a big heart.

Mystique is the last of her litter still waiting and needs a new foster home by December 29. All of her siblings have been adopted, and she’s hoping her turn is next.

She’s sweet as pie, a little timid at first, great with kids and other dogs, and a big girl with a big heart who just needs a safe place to land.

Meet Budgie!

Budgie is a playful young guy who is very excited for the day he finds out he’s adopted.

He’s been in care for 165 days, which honestly makes no sense because he’s fun, friendly, and excellent at cat things like playing, zooming, and supervising your daily activities.

Tonight is quiet.

Across the city, foster animals are tucked into warm beds, curled up on couches, and gently woven into family traditions. A spot by the tree, a seat during movie night, a soft blanket during late-night snacks.

They don’t know it’s Christmas.
But they know they are safe.
They know they are included.

We’re feeling incredibly thankful tonight, for the foster families who opened their homes, for the patience and love they give without hesitation, and for the simple, powerful gift of belonging.

From all of us, and from every paw tucked in tonight: thank you for making room at your table and in your hearts.

Nutmeg is currently undergoing treatment for FIP and has been so strong through it all.
Sadly, she has developed glaucoma as a complication, and now urgently needs an eye enucleation to relieve pain and keep her comfortable.

The cost of surgery is $1,200, and we’re fundraising to make this next step possible for her.

Purr-fessor Meowtastic & Tidbit! 🐾🎓

These two adorable kitties are currently enjoying a little staycation at Pet Valu Braeside, and they’re hoping their next destination is a forever home just in time for the holidays!

✨ Purr-fessor Meowtastic
Female | Estimated DOB: June 2025
Specialties include:
🧁 Daily biscuit-making lessons
🐾 Random zoomies with chandelier-worthy cat-apults
🍽 Snack time followed by well-earned naps

Despite a very rough start to life, Purr-fessor embraces the world with joy and enthusiasm. She truly knows how to live soaking up snuggles, cuddles, sunbeams, and human companionship.
She does wonderfully with other cats, dogs, and kids, and would thrive in an active home with another kitten, or even better, with her best friend, Tidbit.

✨ Tidbit
Still very kitten-sized despite being an older kitten, Tidbit is cleverly disguised as a tiny fluff and has completely captured Purr-fessor Meowtastic’s heart.
