Peaches and her sister Piper used to struggle immensely with being left alone. Even ten seconds without Mom in sight felt impossible for them, and they would pace and whine the moment she stepped out. Determined to help, we introduced a gradual training plan tailored to their specific anxieties. Starting with just a few seconds apart, we slowly built up their confidence by reinforcing calm behavior and providing a safe, comforting environment.

Over time, Peaches and Piper began to show real progress. Their anxious whining turned into curious exploration, and each day they were able to handle a little more solo time. Before long, they're able to settle down for more than 50 minutes, fully awake, while Mom was away! It was amazing to see how they had transformed from restless, worried pups into relaxed, self-assured companions.

Looking back on their journey, it’s clear that patience, positive reinforcement, and a systematic approach were the keys to success. We are so proud of Peaches, Piper, and their dedicated mom for all their hard work. This story remains one of our favorite reminders that, with the right plan and support, even the most anxious pets can learn to feel secure on their own.

Have you ever wanted to teach your dog fun tricks like rolling over, fetching your slippers, or even playing dead?

Trick training isn’t just entertaining; it strengthens your bond with your pet and builds their confidence.

Charlie, a playful Border Collie, now wows his family and friends with his ability to ‘spin’ and ‘bow’ on command—all thanks to our Trick Training sessions.

Training doesn’t have to feel like a chore—it can actually be a lot of fun! At Shaggy Dog, we’re all about positive reinforcement. That means no fear, no pain, and no punishment—just trust, encouragement, and helping your furry friend feel confident and happy. 🐾

Take Bella, for example. She’s a 6-month-old golden retriever with a whole lot of love to give. The only problem? She couldn’t resist jumping on every single guest who walked through the door. While her enthusiasm was adorable, it was a bit overwhelming for visitors—and let’s just say her owner wasn’t exactly thrilled when coffee cups started spilling!

After just a few sessions, Bella learned to channel her excitement in a more polite way. Now, she greets guests with a happy tail wag and sits patiently waiting for attention. Her owner is less stressed, the guests are delighted, and Bella? She’s as happy as ever, soaking up all the praise and belly rubs.

Training isn’t about breaking bad habits—it’s about building better ones and strengthening the bond you share with your pet. With a little guidance, you’ll be amazed at what your dog can do.

Did you know cats can be trained too? 🐾 It’s true! Cats are clever creatures, and with a bit of patience and understanding, you can work through all kinds of challenges—whether it’s litter box troubles, scratching up your favorite chair, or even helping cats in the same home get along better.

Take Mittens, for example. She’s a spirited little tabby who had her own ideas about where to sharpen her claws—and let’s just say it wasn’t the scratching post her owner bought her. The couch, the curtains, even a sneaker or two—nothing was safe. It wasn’t that Mittens was being naughty; she just hadn’t been shown a better option.

It took some time, but now Mittens struts to her scratching post with pride and gets plenty of love and snuggles for it.

Cats are amazing, but they’re also creatures of habit. Sometimes, it’s just about finding the right approach to make life easier for everyone. If Mittens can do it, your kitty can too.

A dog’s love for their owner runs deeper than simple loyalty—it’s a connection born from trust, instinct, and companionship. For a dog, their owner is not just a caregiver but part of their pack, their family. This special bond reveals itself in small, meaningful gestures that show how deeply a dog feels.

When you walk in the door after a day away, your dog’s excitement is immediate and heartfelt. It’s not just a routine greeting; they’re genuinely thrilled to see you, their tail wagging in rhythm with their joy. Science even tells us that dogs release oxytocin, the “love hormone,” when they’re with us—just like we do with those we love most.

Throughout the day, a dog often wants to be close, following you from room to room, lying at your feet, or curling up nearby. It’s their way of sharing space with someone who matters deeply to them, someone who makes them feel safe. Even the simplest of interactions, like a gentle look or a lean against your side, are ways dogs communicate that they feel secure and happy by your side.

And then there’s the protective instinct—often subtle but strong. Dogs may position themselves between you and perceived danger, watching over you in a way that shows their loyalty runs bone-deep. Their desire to protect comes from a place of profound trust and commitment, a testament to how much they cherish their family.

Understanding a dog’s love helps us appreciate the quiet yet powerful bond we share. In their eyes, we’re more than just their human

Lenny's journey through separation anxiety has been a game-changer for his entire home. Initially, being alone caused him a lot of stress, leading to anxious behaviors that affected everyone, including his buddy Ziggy. But with consistent training and supportive routines, Lenny learned to feel at ease on his own. Through gradual steps and positive reinforcement, he went from anxious to calm, finding his independence in a safe way.

This newfound calm hasn’t just helped Lenny—Ziggy now thrives in a more peaceful environment too. Without the stress signals from Lenny, Ziggy has grown more relaxed, creating a balanced and serene home for both of them. It’s a beautiful example of how working through separation anxiety can benefit not only the anxious dog but also their companions, fostering a sense of peace for the whole family.
