This is the sweetest little Miss Maggie. She's been making great strides learning to listen while excited, barking less when people come home, and learning to pass dogs and be less reactive in head-on approaches.

Great work to her family! Keep up all the on-going work and maintaining the success of other training.

This is adorable, little Skye! She started reactive to people and dogs on a walk.
Her family has been incredibly dedicated to her training and has seen huge improvements. They created safe zones with sight blockers at home, moved to walking only on parks or places where they could get big distances, and did slow and careful introductions of people. Skye is doing so great with people now and has reduced the distance she needs to pass dogs by 80%! She can even pass with head-on approaches now.
There is still a touch of work to do, but an outstanding job to her family. Keep up the great work.

Let's clear up some common dog myths! One popular belief is that dogs only understand commands when spoken in a stern voice.

The truth is, dogs respond better to positive reinforcement and a calm, assertive tone.

It's with a heavy heart I announce that Leo, our resident kitty has travelled over the rainbow bridge. It's been an incredibly tough week for me. Leo was almost 13 years old and been my oldest living pet to date.
He is already being very missed. Thank you to everyone for your patience and kindness while I come to terms with this loss.
Huge thank you to Dr. Meredith Galbraith for giving Leo a peaceful passing at home. And thank you to Tina of Tina Sawicki Pet Photography for capturing some of Leo's best moments before his passing.

Little Marty is making improvements! As you can see above, stay is a work in progress. Leash walking, potty training, and recall were top on the list.

Marty was nervous to go further than the corner, so we brought Winston in as a support network to teach him how fun walks could be! He went the furthest he ever had been on a walk and had fun sniffing and visiting people and wasn't even scared by cars by the end.

We then did some fun recall training games and races between Winston and him.

Keep up the great work building Marty's confidence. You're doing a great job, Marty's mom!

Alfie has made great strides in learning to be a more chill guy. Adolescents can be hard in dogs but not impossible.
His parents have done an outstanding job with teaching him calm approaches and sitting rather than jumping, adjusting arousal balances, and training both relaxation and patience. On top, he's also not nearly as rowdy when he sees other dogs on leah now.
There is still work to be done, but he's come such a long way.
Amazing job to his family for putting in all the hard work. Teenagers are hard! Keep it up.

Isn't she just the cutest? This little girl loooves people, dogs, life, and going for the occasional neighborhood wander! We worked on creating more relaxed greetings, way better recall, sharper recall, and preventing door dashing.

There is still some work to do, BUT my gosh has Freyja came such a long way. It used to take quite a lot to get her to return, and now her recall is so swift and on fire. We even added some collar grab to the game so we could get her back in emergency situations.

Amazing job from her highly dedicated and loving family! Amazing job to all!

The little Missy has come so far! We went from heavy resource guarding and eating all the things we shouldn't on a walk to ignoring all the goose poops, walking past dogs, and being able to do great trades. Great work from her mom on helping her learn all these new behaviours. Keep up the great job.

Blue has already come a long way! He came into his home with lots of energy, little impulse control and tons of over-arousal, and some anxiety. We've done a range of training, including some day training walks one on one with me. His dedicated parents have worked slowly and diligently with his training and we're seeing some great improvements. He's happier being left now and able to listen when excited and learning to walk past dogs at a distance that is slowly reducing. Keep up all the amazing work, Blue! You and your family got this!

Dogs bark for many reasons including excitement, anxiety, for attention or to sound the alarm. Understanding WHY your dog is barking will help you begin to properly address and change the behavior.

THEY’RE BACK !!!!

There will be fireworks everywhere this weekend. Please heed the warnings and prepare yourself and your dog.

If you are taking your dog out in your yard after dark, please use a lease. Even if your yard is fenced. A scared dog can scale a six ft fence, a little one can crawl through a space it wouldn’t go through under normal circumstances.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO WATCH THE FIREWORKS!!
A dogs hearing is so much better than a humans. If you think something is loud then imagine what they are hearing. They don’t want to be there.
BE KIND AND LEAVE THEM BEHIND.

Calming video in comments if you do happen to lose your dog. Do not yell after it or chase it, get the direction, if you know it, and get in front of it.

This little Missy is doing so much better! There used to be lots of startling, gumpy faces and even a few bites! It was hard to know when her mood would be good or not.
But with some hard work from her family on reading dog body language (which is mostly quiet) and working on consent training with her and themselves, things have changed dramatically! Their relationship has improved, and everyone feels comfortable and happy in the home again!

Great work, family. Keep up the amazing job of reading your dog and respecting boundaries.

Look at this perfect princess!
She went from guarding, snapping and hoarding her toys from guests and some family members. Keep away and taking things rudely without asking was the culprit behind this behaviour! Once her family released and started doing equal trade and stopped playing keep away she did a near 180 overnight!
It's amazing what a bit of communication can do to improve reactivity and relationships between us and our dogs! But above all, HUGE congrats to a family for putting in all the effort to teach her new associations, relieve anxiety, and be sure relationships were built on strong bonds. Lots of hard work that paid off.

This beautiful girl has come a huge way thanks to the hard work and dedication of all her amazing family members!
She was barking and lundging at strangers coming onto her property. We worked in neutral places to start and went for parallel walks, then worked on the territorial behaviours. By this time, she loved me so much that we needed to switch to curbing demand behaviours. She's come such a great distance thanks to her family's diligent practice on keeping her subthreshold and being sure introductions with people were super safe and pleasant.
Now she's happy to have people in her bubble, and though we still need to work on the quiet cue for aralm barking, even that is coming along nicely.

Outstanding job, family! Keep up that great momentum.

Triple cuties today! We've worked steadily with leash reactivity in the little dude, and he's doing great work on being calm on walks! On this day, we were working on teaching them to be quiet on cue, and everyone got it in three tires! We also taught them to calmly approach fun new guests.
This family has been outstanding and doing all the hard work on training everything, and we've seen some outstanding progress. All that effort and practice has paid off well!

We were working on calm greetings (good success as you can see here) and leash skills. His family has made huge headway and is doing great. He's calm and can pass even when other dogs are reacting to him! Huge great job to the family.

We're behind again on cuties to share! Let's start with this stunning man! He and his mom have been working extra hard on their recall (come) training and leash pulling. He is a perfect gentleman in every way and has the best mom, working hard on his skills. He loves all the fun recall games. Learning through games is a huge part of what I do, especially for recall. It's fun for the handlers and the pups!
Keep up the great work, family!
