A Heartfelt Goodbye to Dear Barney 💔

This week, with heavy hearts, we had to say goodbye to our sweet friend, Barney.

Barney came into our rescue in 2022, and it wasn't long before we discovered the serious health issues that would make finding a traditional forever home difficult. He bravely faced heart problems and failing kidneys, but his spirit never wavered.

Just when he needed it most, a wonderful foster hero, Bonnie, stepped forward. She didn't see his medical needs as a burden, but as a reason to open her heart and home even wider. She gave Barney the most precious gift we could ever ask for: a true home, filled with love, comfort, and dignity, for all his days.

While we are deeply saddened by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Barney is now free from his pain. He is running on young legs, with a strong heart and healthy kidneys, happy and whole again on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you, Bonnie. Your selfless love and compassion were a beacon for Barney. You made his final chapter a beautiful one.

And thank you to every single person who donated to help with Barney's care. You made his specialized treatment and comfort possible. You were a part of his village, and we are so grateful.

Rest easy, dear Barney. You were so, so loved.

It's Fido Friday. Today we are getting an update on Neo who is now known as Gizmo.

"Neo is now Gizmo. He is the sweetest boy to me. He rarely leaves my side and needs to know where I am at all times. He is still timid around men but he is getting better every day. He is fully trained to go outside now and loves to go for long walks with me. Gizmo plays so well with my other 2 dogs, a Lab and a Yorkie. Every night when it is bed time, he patiently waits for me to crawl into bed and then he jumps up and curls up beside me for the whole night. Every time I come home, he greets me at the door and stands up on his hind legs with his front paws raised to give me a hug. The cats torment him once in a while. They will corner him and he will let out a little whimper to let me know but that is getting better.
I fostered him at first and we became very attached to each other. I couldn't imagine him going to another family and I was afraid that he would be scared if we gave him up. Honestly what your foster group does is amazing. Sadly this was my first time fostering and I became attached."

Foster failing is also known as Foster Love success!! Fostering is a great opportunity to meet homeless dogs and be a safe place for them until they find their furever home. Sometimes that forever home is with the foster 🥰. The important thing is, the dog now has a loving home. Meet Nugent 🐾 This sweet 5-year-old, 19-lb Chihuahua mix is looking for a patient and loving forever home. Nugent takes a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he’ll happily enjoy treats, cozy naps, and exploring the outdoors by your side.

He’s great with other dogs and has even met a cat without a fuss! Nugent isn’t a fan of his kennel and prefers a calm, quiet space where he can feel safe.
