It is there where she witnessed the euthanasia of many dogs due to behavioural issues including aggression and dog bites. Her passion to help these animals avoid such extreme measures drove her to pursue a training degree as a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) and further her knowledge in animal behaviour. Additionally, living with a puppy who suffered from anxiety and fearf

ul related aggression, she strove to understand and manage his daily routine to ensure his safety and turn his behaviour around. Janessa is able to focus on positive reinforcement using science-based training methods such as the clicker technique. By ignoring unwanted behaviours and rewarding those that are desirable, the results are a happier, more well-adjusted pet and stronger bond between owner and dog. Studies prove that animals learn 1/3 times faster with clicker training than with just using treats alone. Additionally, by teaching positive reinforcement through this method and others, it enhances and encourages the animal’s love of learning. For someone who suffered the embarrassment and frustration of a reactive dog, she realized how important it is to provide a positive learning experience that would benefit the animals, families, and the community at large. Ultimately, her job/passion is to ensure all pet owners are invested in the process by using positive reinforcement. Janessa’s other credentials include Fear Free Certified Veterinary Professional, Dog Bite Educator and Be a Tree Educator with Doggone Safe.
