Tangerine Tango FF (Amber)
Art Deco x Apt to Win
April 2001- March 2024
In the tapestry of our lives, there are certain threads that shimmer brighter, casting a glow that lingers, for me that thread was Amber - the picture of grace, athleticism, kindness and beauty.
Amber was more than just a horse; she was my heart horse, she was sweet, loved a soft hand, and was a versatile, brave competitor, from the beginning. She matured slow and steady, never entered the awkward stage, and knew when she set foot into a show ring, it was show time. From her triumphant victories in a multitude of line shows, Year end championships, Ontario CSHA Triple Crown, RAWF Grand Champion Canadian Sport Horse at the tender age of one and her Governor General Cup win, she didn't stop there.
She went on to compete in the Hunters, loved the Jumpers and she evented to Prelim. She was a trusted steed to take young students through their first shows, and a willing and safe partner for those who were stepping up from another division or discipline.
Amber foaled and raised three foals for us, IceWine FF, Palmyra FF and Diamond Mine FF.
At 21 without a single blemish on her, she came out of retirement to help a young rider learn the ropes in the Jumpers and loved every minute of it. She loved the limelight.
For the last two years she enjoyed her retirement here on the farm with old friends, and enjoyed babysitting the youngsters.
In her 23rd year, despite herculean efforts to relieve her discomfort from an apparent compressed nerve, we were forced to make the agonizing decision to bid farewell to her.
Though my heart aches with the weight of the loss, I take solace in knowing that we spared her further suffering when there was just no where else to turn. To the dedicated team of veterinarians who left no stone unturned in their quest to ease her pain and to all who lent their expertise and support, I offer my heartfelt gratitude.
And to Claire, whose bond with Amber far surpassed the realm of her very first trainer, whose steadfast companionship eased Amber's transition from this world to the next, I am eternally indebted. Thank you for holding her and helping me say my final words to her. Your unwavering support, compassion, and love were consoling and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
Brandon thank you for ensuring a dignified and tender end for her and for helping me through it all. She will rest easy. Chris for your unwavering support and agreement that we would go to the ends of the earth for her, until we couldn't anymore.
Though I may never again feel the warmth of her breath or her gentle nuzzle on my shoulder, her memory will live on, and I know I was blessed, for she was mine.
Godspeed Luba, my sweet love
