June & July horsey fun !
10/06/2024
Since Nora’s favourite trick is to clear our fencing, Anna Humphris decided to try her over a couple poles and jumps. Turns out she can and loves to show off her skill. Perhaps this is her super power 🤔

June mornings. Wish I could hit pause and make this month last forever !
29/05/2024
Starla week 3 training (May 26). All sessions begin with good morning kisses for mom and baby. Note how she is now fitting just under Anna’s armpit. Growing in height and spice each week.
29/05/2024
Starla week 2 training (May 19). Nora and Lizette getting their weekly training ride again after taking a month off.
19/05/2024
Starla began her halter training last Sunday with Anna Humphris. We are always amazed by Anna’s skills. In this case, it was rodeo Queen! Starla eventually gave up being silly and acting like a reindeer in flight and off we went to the arena for some lead line practice. Stayed tuned for more exciting foal fun adventures and watch her grow each week!
11/05/2024
Friday night rides are shaping up to be a thing ! Siena even harrowed the arena first 😉

May evenings are simply magical. Trees have finally filled out and everything is turning green. So peaceful to roam around and feed in the sunshine. As it was Nora’s birthday week, thought everyone should get a flake of alfalfa to celebrate. No one objected 😉
29/04/2024
Starla enjoying her scratches. Thrilled these two are finally home. It was a stressful experience sending Penny to foal out. Not everyone appreciates the importance of quality nutrition. With Jack Bennett retiring at Road’s End Farm, our options locally were limited. Happy they are home and being properly fed and loved. Next time, we will do it ourselves !

Our long awaited foal has arrived!
A beautiful Blame it On Anna filly by Not Bourbon. Flying Horse Farm
Starla (or maybe Ruby) is our first homebred foal ❤️ The kids are currently arguing over her stable name 😁

Lovely Easter weekend on the farm. We had riding lessons, celebrated the Three Amigos turning 4, grazed the goats in the sunshine and watched the horses pick at grass popping up. Also had dinner with the family. The chorus of frogs at night was a symphony 🐸. Happy Easter to all !

So true ! I also go in public like this, because an hour at the barn is usually more like 3 😉

Update 🚩Stella has found an amazing home in Victoria. Her new owner plans to further her training with the hopes of eventing in future. Wishing the new pair many fun filled adventures. Happy trails my friend.❤️

Don’t just count your Blessings, Share them ! Grateful today for all that I have.
From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.

100% truth ! I’ve said it a million times, the barn is my sanctuary. That is why we are so selective in who gets to be part of it. It’s also better than any gym membership or therapist 😉

Thank you to Shayla Northey from Sunland Acres Equestrian for taking the kids on a fabulous trail ride today. Their smiles are proof of a great time. Summer is now complete, having had both a successful beach and trail ride. Lucky students 🐎. Julz Balenzano

No better feeling than watching the sun rise while doing morning feed. Simply magical. Also delighted at the new paddocks and sand walk ways. Thank you Peden Industries for grading our property and making it dry year round. Construction wraps up this week once all the new Rainforest Sheds go up. Can’t wait……stay tuned for those photos end of this week. We decided to train early this morning to beat the heat. We are so fortunate to have Anna Humphris work with our girls (and us) on a weekly basis. Happy Sunday and stay cool everyone!

After dabbling in the racing industry since 2020, we finally got our win. We listened to dad and made the call that changed our lives. Thank you to Robert Vanoverschot and Lyssa MacPherson and the great staff at the Vanoverschot stables. And a big thank you to Brian Boodramsingh for being our pilot. Had to wait for dad to get out of hospital again to share our news and play the race for him. His response was “about time” followed by a tearful big smile. One check on our bucket list. Sorry mom, the nefarious affliction continues. Now if we can only get dad to the next race in person…… 😉 🏇🏿🥇🦽Julz Balenzano

Just realized that I haven’t introduced the latest member in our barn - welcoming Teddy ! Teddy is a 3 yr old liver chestnut TB gelding. He’s super sweet and enjoys our love and attention.

Just a few highlights found in my camera roll from the last month. This is what happens when kids ask to use my phone. Love the selfies and ground level pics !

We share our tranquil farm with a herd of beautiful Nigerian dwarf and Alpine goats. Aside from being natural lawn mowers, our goats offer companionship and therapy to our many visitors. You can follow their adventures and magical moments on Instagram @ avadaleacres. Too many pics to re-post so have a peek yourself! Some of the kids will be for sale when they are 8 weeks old. Please message Su for more details and to arrange a visit.

Love the month of May ! Trees and fields fill out once again. Days get warmer and evenings get longer. Which means more time spent with our treasured herds. The nursery has 6 new kids (3 doelings & 3 bucklings) kicking up their heels. My favourite time of year.

Nora learning to jump !
Since Nora’s favourite trick is to clear our fencing, Anna Humphris decided to try her over a couple poles and jumps. Turns out she can and loves to show off her skill. Perhaps this is her super power 🤔
Siena riding the very special Connie. Remember the joy when you first learned to canter? Getting ready for some Games Days this spring !
Penny 2023 aka Blame it on Anna
Penny back in work after having a few months off. Looking great with Anna Humphris aboard.
Anna Humphris working with Holly. We are extremely fortunate to have such a skilled trainer working with our horses.
Nora working on her canter. Our little mustang is our most spirited ! Makes us work a little harder.
Lizette under saddle
Focussing on Lizette, now that Holly and Penny are at Hastings. She’s coming along quite nicely, for a three year old. Susanna Calendino Anna Humphris
Jack riding without stirrups & reins
More fun challenges riding without reins and stirrups. Thank you Shayla Northey from Sunland Acres Equestrian for bringing your surcingle. Su and I will also be taking up this challenge. Love getting back to basics. Makes us all better riders to be in tune with our horses.
Learning to ride with no hands or feet. Thank you Shayla Northey for teaching the kids the importance of a good seat! We’ve all been in a situation where we lose our reins & stirrups. I love that they are learning these skills now. Cheers to a great coach.
Lizette under saddle
Happy Birthday to Susanna Calendino ! Your wish of riding Lizette by your birthday came true today. Hard work pays off.
Penny (aka Blame it on Anna) looking great under saddle today. Sound and getting reading for the 2022 racing season. We break our TB babies to ride before sending them to the track. We also continue to ride when they come home off season. Cross training creates a well balanced horse with a long term career as a sport and pleasure mount. Great day with Anna Humphris and Susanna Calendino !
