We had an amazing weekend at the Greater Edmonton Parrot Society (GEPS) - Chat Parrot Show!

We met so many wonderful people! We saw birds, talked about birds, and played with birds! We bought bird toys, bird art, and bird foods. Thank you for an incredible weekend! Our hearts are full ❤️

So when I ask if you want a parrot as a pet in your house, it's because they can be a bit noisy.

African Grey Parrots, illegally caught and destined for life in a cage, have been successfully reintroduced to the wild!

Way to go Limbe Wildlife Centre !

🌟 Exciting News Alert! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that our first parrot release of 2025 has been a resounding success! 🦜💚

On February 1st, we transferred 28 African grey parrots into our release aviary. Using our carefully planned soft-release method, we allowed them to acclimate to their new environment before opening the doors on February 15th. By the very next day, all 28 parrots took to the skies, ready to start their new lives! 🎉✨

These incredible birds, once victims of the illegal wildlife trade, now have a second chance in the wild. Did you know that African grey parrots are among the world's most trafficked birds? Their popularity in the pet trade has led to severe declines in their populations, making them an Endangered species. 🌍💔

But there’s more good news! We've got plenty of parrots still waiting to be released this year—after 102 were rescued in 2024! 🦜💪

You can help support our mission and be part of their journey. Donate today and spread the word by sharing this post with friends and family! Together, we can make a difference! 💖 https://limbewildlife.org/donate

It's the middle of winter, it's been cold forever, and we are wishing for spring. Time to grow your own grass!

We love this grass grower (not sponsored) as it keeps the substrate away from birdy beaks.

Yum! Greens!!

Robin has been invited to speak at the upcoming FLOCK conference! Her topic is "Collaborative Problem-Solving in Parrot Behavior Consulting: Building Judgment-Free Partnerships with Clients for Lasting Change".

We feel strongly that working together makes for a better world, for ourselves, for our parrots, for our clients, and for everyone. This approach takes our tendency of "us vs them" and flips it into "us working together towards a common goal" ❤️

We are so excited to be part of this phenomenal line up of professionals: Animal Académie , Papageientraining Hildegard Niemann , Awesome Animal Solutions and Dr Scott Echols!

Tickets are available through the IAABC Foundation, and eligible for CEUs. This talk will NOT be available anywhere else! Get your tickets now!

Who here knows what this is and why today was a DAY?

This is a blood feather, not attached to the bird (Sorry Monster!). He's doing well and the scary part of the liquid red stuff is over.

Would you know what to do if this happened at your house? Do we need to run the First Aid course again?

ThrowBackThursday: SHEEP?!? Yes, they learned to touch a target stick!

The Target game is fun, and easy. This cute boy and girl learned in a few days that touching their nose to the tennis ball meant yummy grain!

Would you teach your bird to target? Maybe you have already? Share your pic with us!
